Ah, life such a strange and interesting endeavour. These days, one blends into the next, mornings getting up out of bed, more complex. Glad I live alone, because if anyone saw my physicality when I first get out of bed, they might lose some awe about my awesome head, and my brilliant mind.
But the sun is shining here, and my friend phoned around 1PM and asked if I'd like him to come over and check the battery in my rider mower, do the maintenance, etc. I said, well, okay, I'll get dressed.
My friend got it going and he did a couple of rounds. We were also in the midst of trying to drain the gasoline out of my two 35 gallon caddy tanks, each of which totally had locked up hand cranks. The gas was getting old, needed to be used. He always kinda made me feel like an idiot for even purchasing them.
So, he parked my rider mower and said he was going back to what had become a laborious job of draining those tanks, into 5 Gal containers, trying to use child proof contraptions. What about the mowing, asked I? You can do it.
Well, of course I can, so I did. I had put on a sweat stained cap, my old jogging shoes which have become my working shoes (first shoes I paid that much money for, and still have them, probably 25 years later), and feel grateful for them to this day!
It was getting around 3:30 PM and I hadn't eaten. He said, neither had he. So, went as we were to the High Tide Tavern. It was really busy, and low staff. Food was not going to be forthcoming.
So we went to the Chinese restaurant, which also overlooks the Sound, and has really good food. I was in the mood for Won Ton soup, and theirs is really good. He had a sizzling platter.
Came back here, and there was still warmth outside on the front deck. My friend gave Diego (my dog) his leftovers, which made Diego really happy. The three of us then spent a few more hours on the deck,
some more beer, for him, and wine for me, a lot of tokes for him, a few for me, and we discussed and shared stories we both have shared and heard from each other so many times before.
And there are some things upon which we will never agree. He refuses to believe in conspiracies, and I refuse not to. He believes that people are too stupid and the alpha male is driven to compete, and can't help themselves. I suggest he go and read the WEF website if he doesn't believe there is a global conspiracy, and his retort is always, people suck. We flip each other off during conversations, frequently, and it always makes us laugh.
Guess I am lucky to still have one friend that still puts up with me,
and he also admits, so is he. Life is a fucking trip.
