The best man just joined steemit!steemCreated with Sketch.

I convinced the best man to join Steemit. He's not the best man at anything in particular, but he's my best man, to the disdain of the other men in my life. This is a bromance of the highest order. Gentlemen (and fair ladies), prepare your ovaries as we talk about true mateship.

@necromortis and I met when we both started at the same workplace together about five and a something years ago. We had a common thread. We were gamers. He played World of Warcraft, I played Guild Wars. We no longer had a common thread. It started off as a bitter awkwardness, and it was a very standoffish affair. It pains me to say that I don't remember him in the early days of our team, until we started working more closely together when it was recognised that we knew how to computer.

Fast forward five years, and he and I have been through a lot. A lot of alcohol mainly, and a lot of deep and meaningful conversations in the early morning hours about how we were nice, non-fedora owning men who couldn't find a woman interested in a serious relationship (or, we'd spend all night at bars putting on Russian accents and generally acting like dolts). Now he's here on Steemit, and I'm not going to say go check out his content because he's awesome at x, or y, or z.

Check out his content because if you like the content that I produce, and my personality; then you should like this man. He's easily adored.

Here's a list of the crazy things we've done together:

  • Spend the stroke of midnight on a new years eve in a rattling car together on a dangerous strech of unlit countryside road because the party we were going to ... wasn't.
  • Organise a 'LAN' party where we did nothing but destroy a hard-drive and drink approximately five litres of alcohol related fluid.
  • Follow that up the next night, after whimpering to the woman in the liquor store
  • Build a BBQ together, while reclining on the ground (a new tradition) after a night filled with too much of the 'good' stuff
  • Travelled, exploring bizarre hotel rooms with incredible levels of luxury (and questionable use of bibles)

At one point, I even broke this man's car. When I was 'moving' out of my mother's home, and had no where to go (its a long story) I called the man, threw my suitcase into the back of his car, and we went to his house where I was promised a couch. I had a couch. I had my suitcase (and a whole bunch of other shit).

We got in his car to go somewhere shortly thereafter. His car wouldn't drive. TLDR, I broke the light in the boot and this short circuited everything causing the car to not engage reverse gear. Or any gear. He thought it would strain our friendship to ask for the money. ($300) I gave it gladly. I'd give it again. It was my fault.

He gave me tough love when I needed it and needed to find more permanent accomodations than a couch. It was good, it was needed, and I think he feared that I'd resent him for it, it grew us closer.

Every time we talk, no matter how long the delay, its like no time at all has passed. See you soon, and for everyone else, go check out @necromortis now.

I'm not married yet, but when the time comes, this man will be by my side. Some of you might mistake this as a campaign to say, 'yes' for Australian Marriage Equality, but this is not the case. Say yes to Australian marriage equality because its none of their fucking business what people decide to do. But say yes to @necromortis, because when I get married to my partner, he will be by my side, as my best man.

Happy fucking rainbow from source

@mattclarke, @nerdfury, @beet, @gamblor; you fellas should be around as groomsmen. Sorry if I haven't given you warning of this prior. The whole fucking wedding party is on steemit, and I just haven't yet dropped the question to my partner. I guess you're invited to, @ursa88

Both these guys are awesome to hang out with, they deserve all the praise possible.

This was amazing! It brought so many memories flooding into my mind. You are one heck of a man that we are all honoured to know. Thank you for the countless years of mateship we have had and for the ones that are to come.

Makes me think of Kangaroo Courtship. Well, ok, that's only because Australia was mentioned.

Cant imagine my friends joining....one issue might be the language...I guess they could write in slovene or I could help with the translate....but the bigger issue would be, none of them is into computers and some don't even own one. :))) Am so jelly right now.

Upvoted because I couldn't get my friends to join. May there be many nights you can't remember in your guys' future.

A good post. Thank you for your sharing.

My wife and I have friends that are like that as well... talk after 11 years to one and it was like we hadn't seen each other in like just a week. A very busy week, but it was astonish when we added up the years.
