Morning learn to run group

Rose early this morning to stand in for a friend. He has been leading a learn to run 5k group. For todays workout, we ran 1 minute, walked 4 minutes, for about 5km of bracing, Yellowknife cold. It was lovely.

Only two showed up today, but still really glad to have them out. Genuinely hearty northerners, who didn't mention the temperature (-12C feels like -19C)

Later today, I might go shoot some of the Frostbite 50 finishers. The Frostbite 50 is an ultra trail race billed as one of the coldest in Canada. Ski, snowshoe or run the distance to earn yourself some respect, and maybe a bit of frostbite.
Check out their site for route info or to plan your registration for next year!

Photo is one I took 6 years ago. If I get any more today, I'll share them here.

Seeing this race, back when I didn't run, may have planted seeds which are growing me into an enthusiastic runner today. :) I might just have to bring a treat for the volunteers.
