Steemit At Two: Celebrating The True Pillars Of Steemit – The Lord of the Steems, the @fulltimegeek (Episode 1)

Steemians...greetings and happy Sunday to all of you. I guess every true Steemian ought to be in happy mood in celebration of this life-enhanancing...this life enriching program (Steemit) for surviving yet another year. We all have our different ways of celebrating steemit. Some may choose to wine and dine with their earned steem; some may not even consider it expedient to celebrate at all.

In my own way, I haven choosen to remember some great steemians (in this 10-part series) whose activities since joining this program have helped in no small way in sustaining the platform. They are those I call the real pillars of Steemit. @ned and @dan may have been the brains behind this program but there are those without whom this program would have been dead on arrival. These men have accumulated thousands to millions of steem power and can decide to power down and move on but they choose to stay and play active roles in sustenaning steem blockchain.

Any true Steemian knows very well that neither blogging nor curation is easy. I was having a conversation with a Steemian whom I prefer to keep anonymous and he said any day he hits 15000SP, he would power down and leave. I demanded to know why and he responded...

"Both blogging and curation are no easy task."

Little wonder many big accounts are just lying fallow even though their owners are yet to power down. But there are other great Steemians who have accumulated over 30000SP and are still writing, curating, policing the community and even delegating their SP just to encourage participation. These set of steemians are the real pillars of Steemit. And deserves to be celebrated at a time like this because without them, thousands of steemians would have been frustrated out of the program.

Everyone has his own list of real pillars of Steemit, so you mustn't agree with my selections. However, you are welcome to criticize my choice via comment. Having said that, below are my list of real pillars of Steemit...

The Captain of Stewards of Gondor, the @fulltimegeek

Although I have not earned a vote from him before, but I am aware of his many exploits. I am yet to see that Steemian whose activities have sustained communities as much as the lord of the steems, the @fulltimegeek.

At first, he delegated a large chunk of his SP to some randomly picked community builders to help curate worthy posts from their respective communities. Like that was not enough, in a selfless act of monumental proportion, he would go on to found a scheme known as Stewards of Gondor (SoG) made of over 50 steemians of repute and delegated almost all his SP to them in support of their community building efforts!

Explaining the rationale behind such decision in a dtube post, lord @fulltimegeek has this to say (in summary)...

  • Curation is a lot of work
  • I'm trying to build long-term relationships
  • It's better to give than to receive
  • I like running reports
  • It prevents me from abusing my powers via flags
  • It's humbling and levels the playing field
  • Less pressure when I post

The SoG scheme recorded great feats within the time it lasted as Stewards curated thousands of accounts in pursuit of the objectives for which it was instituted. The program has, however, been put on temporary suspension and the delegation withdrawn to prosecute a cause which its lifespan lies in the womb of time. Nevertheless, the lord of the steems continues to support the community through periodic curation and steady resteeming of worthy posts.

My father use to say...

"When act of generosity, no matter how small, is appreciated, praised, and recognized, it gives impetus to the altruist to continue to do more".

For this reason and in the spirit of 2 year steemiversary, I, on behalf of my brainchild, @euronation community and the larger steemit community, do hereby award the sum of 1SBD 🙏to the Captain of the Stewards of Gondor (SoG) and the lord of the steems, the @fulltimegeek. We know 1SBD is nothing to a person of your status but it is a token of appreciation and recognition for your numerous life-enriching exploits. Thank you.

Yours truly,
@eurogee

Thank you my friend. Lol 😂

Blogging is not easy and I once read on a curators blog where he said people should really stop complaining a particular curator did not curate them. According to him first check his number of followers and imagine him or her having to curate that large no but I'm still grateful for those who are the strong pillars of steemit and for those who have been faithful in curation.

You @eurogee you are also a strong support Pillar for the Nigerian minnows. You've done so well so thank you and God bless you.
