So the other weekend, my sister (aka @polebird who just joined steemit today) and I had the opportunity to explore San Francisco. One of the many things I enjoy about this diverse city is you never know what to expect. I always stumble upon gems when I visit, and each experience in San Francisco is unique and special.

Saturday morning, we decided to go visit the farmer's market, not really expecting too much. We were greeted with an amazing craft fair filled with street vendors. There was one street vendor, Tanya Feathers, in particular that caught our eyes. She was selling spirit feathers. Being bird lovers and owners, we were curious to check out her booth.

Above are just some of the feathers she sells. Each feather is unique as Tanya prays over the feathers and she believes each feather adds protection and happiness to one's life. All her feathers are cruelty- free and are hand dyed by her. The idea of spirit feathers actually originated from Native Americans believing that the color of the feathers represent different things such as hope, unity, protection, strength and courage.

In the image above, my sister is getting her feathers put in her hair. The colors in her hair are white and blue which represents unity, protection, nature, and spiritual journey.

I loved that Tanya has so much passion and love for what she does, and it just reminded me that we should all follow our dreams and give love to others. We had so much fun getting the feathers in our hair and we feel blessed to have had such an amazing and unique experience. If you want to check out her shop feel free to check out her Etsy shop.

Cute sisters :D

aww thanks! :)

This is so cute! How long are those feathers supposed to last in your hair? I've never seen that stand before, definitely will need to find her next time I'm in SF.

Apparently up to a year if you take really good care... I think it will last at least 3 though.
