You have to know how to sell yourself
Take this as a fundamental principle: in capitalism you sell yourself and to sell yourself you have to know how to sell yourself.
You come to the United States from a society with different values and attitudes toward work and life in general. If you want to increase the chances of getting ahead, according to your interests, tastes, dreams and personal needs, you will have to adapt to the new circumstances, the sooner the better.
Of course I'm not suggesting that you become dishonest or violate your ethical and moral principles. Much less letting yourself be trampled underfoot (be careful because the customs, visions and attitudes you have acquired in Cuba or in your country here can be extreme), but always maintain your dignity and make your rights prevail.
The main way to create you and give a good image of yourself is to do the right thing, and the right thing doesn't come with a nationality or a country. I don't know if he'll make you win, but as with honesty, I don't think you'll lose.
Dress properly. Speak correctly. Be courteous... and punctual.
When they need a volunteer, raise your hand, even if you throw your fellow workers off the enemy. Remember: you are almost always in a disadvantaged position, and you can never be sure of anything. But if you want to get ahead in the United States, who do you have to show off to, employers or workers?
It's not about licking boots, it's about responding to the needs of the company you work for, which, whether you see it that way or not, you depend on to earn your bread.
Ask yourself: what's better, to give an image of trustworthiness or that you can't be counted on?
What's not working for you in a particular job? You create and develop an attitude towards life, which can serve you not only in a future job - all companies and entrepreneurs are not the same, for better or for worse - but even in your personal relationships... Or, if necessary, in your own business.
You never know....
