PROJECT LAB: Setting Up Science Laboratory in our School #Fundition (Update# 01)

Project LAB aims to raise enough funds to set up Science Laboratory in San Miguel Central School, San Miguel, Leyte, Philippines. It has a goal of providing the class with the necessary equipment to achieve better learning among the pupils. Laboratory activities are necessary to provide hands-on experiences with the learners, thus making their learning much more fun and meaningful. It is "Learning by doing" as what they say which holds true as pupils tend to participate more and really enjoy.

As a teacher, I wanted to provide the best for my class so I am trying my best to look for ways on how to improve the teaching and learning process as well as the learning environment which would greatly affect their performance in class. With this, I am grateful because I was able to run an approved project in FUNDITION.

Let me show you the Science classrooms in our school:

Grade 6:

(The Science classroom for Grade 6 has an AL Board and a Starbook computer system which help in the teaching and learning process. It also has long tables which they use in conducting their activity.)

Grade 5:

(The Grade 5 science classroom has also an AL Board and a projector as well as long tables used for science activities.)

Grade 4:

(This is my classroom. No long tables, no AL Board, no projector, no starbook computer. I only have 1 small television which I use for video presentations. When my kids are doing their activities, they just sit on the floor. 😢😢 At least my floor was already fixed thanks to @adollaraday @pennsif, @henry-gant @paradise-found, and others)

Anyway, all the three Science Classrooms don't have the necessary instruments needed in conducting experiments. We only do demonstrations and video presentations in delivering our lessons. Having almost 50 pupils in each of my three classes, I am really having a hard time to impart the knowledge that pupils are supposed to learn. Sometimes children find it really hard to understand science concepts just by watching. They really need hands-on experiences to be able to learn better.

So if ever my project will be funded, I will buy the needed instruments such as microscope and other commonly used apparatuses for my class. I can also let other science teachers to borrow the said instruments whenever they needed for the benefit of the children also.

I can guarantee all of you that the use of the funds raised in this project will be transparent.

As of now, I am actually attending a regional training in Science. This will also be a big help for me as lots of experiments will be taught to us there in the days to come. It will end on July 4. So I am really hoping I could raise the funds soon so that I can be able to pass my learning in the training to my pupils in school.
