Awkward Moments - A True Story :)

Sometimes I feel like my blog is too serious. So here is a little funny, true story:

It was almost the 4th of July. My brother and I decided to go shopping for some last-minute items in town. We went to Walmart to pick up a few things.

I decided to get some flowers for the table (just for a fun centerpiece). My brother was shopping around the store for other things, so I browsed through the candle section and picked out a candle to buy.

We didn't have anything for dessert, so I thought it would be fun to make strawberry shortcake minis. So, I picked up some fresh strawberries, miniature angel food cakes, and canned whip cream.

We also picked up some chips, pop, and I passed some Hershey's chocolate syrup on an end-cap and threw it in the cart so we could make chocolate milk.

My brother said he would buy the chips, pop, and mini angel food cakes to split the grocery bill, so I gave him those items and we each went to a different check out.

I watched the cashier scan the items of the lady in front of me. She was one of those cashiers that looked at every item, commenting on each one like, "Oh! I love those!" or "I haven't seen those before, I will have to check them out when I am on break!"

I set my items down at the checkout - I had a candle, a bouquet of flowers, a can of whip cream, chocolate syrup, and fresh strawberries! I took a double take of the items together on the belt, and knew the "story" that they told. Of all the items to combine together... I was embarrassed by what it looked like. I tried to keep a straight face.

The cashier gave me an odd look and was quiet the whole time. I had the hardest time not laughing. I looked over at the water fountains - hoping for something to distract me from that moment. I turned and looked back at the cashier, and then at the items she was putting into bags. I couldn't help it - I laughed a little which made it even more awkward!

Sweet sigh of relief when I walked outside! :D

Thanks for reading! :)

This story had so many good elements to it.

We know what those cashiers are like... I've gotten them too. I've done things like put down lasagna noodles, ground beef, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese.

Ahh! Lasagna tonight she says.

Really? Is that what you're having I ask?

No you are!

I am?

Oh, I bought the lasagna noodles because they were on sale. The hamburger is because we're making some homemade ones and freezing the patties.

Actually tonight, we're making homemade pizza, and I already have the dough rising at home, and pepperoni in the fridge.

"oh" they say.

....but really... do we need to have these discussions?

But your story trumps mine by far. I loved the pseudo-romantic evening you were having.

Now all you needed to freak out that cashier even more, would be to put down something strange, like a spiked dog collar and leash and she would have fainted. :)

Busy bodies... gotta love them. :)

This is one of the many reasons why the lines are so long at Walmart too lol :D

"Spiked dog collar/leash" - yes, next time I find myself in a similar awkward situation, why not go for it lol XD

Lol! The true stories are the funniest ones.

It did make me smile buddy
