Today I noticed, that @freiheit50 used google translate to translate German into Korean.
At least that's what google translate claims, this post means:
https://steemit.com/kr/@freiheit50/abdullar
I thought I could answer by using google translate myself.
That's 9 symbols and looks awfully long.
So I added a word:
This is 6 symbols and much shorter.
Also totally different symbols in both.
The last time I tried this, I was translating German to English and back to German.
The results were hilarious.
That is a while ago and it seems google translate improved a lot since then.
The Korean translation for the German "I don't understand" is the shortest.
4 symbols, 2 words.
이해가 안
I don't understand any of it.
Did you try reversing the translation? I find that useful to see if it's likely to make sense. I think Google Translate learns from documents that are already multi-lingual. I do find it useful when someone posts in another language. I'm lucky that most of the web is in English. German is the only other language I can really read.

I didn't translate this back to English.
I decided not to answer in Korean.
English and German are so similar.
I'm sure you could read Dutch as well then :)

There are similarities across various languages. I can work out some Dutch. When I was in Ukraine I could figure out some signs once I learnt some of the Cyrillic letters. I work with a lot of people who have English as a second language and they do really well at communication. I did live in Germany for a while and had to learn the language then

I made the back translation as to see weather my Korean words make sense. But this is not a hard proof, only a hint.

Note that weather and whether will translate differently ;) English is not the most logical language, so I admire those who can learn it as a second language.

I know - the weather in Munich was very cold, but I don't know whether you noticed that.

Plenty of native speakers make these mistakes :)

Google translate can be funny. I think it tries to be smart sometimes and consider the context but end up giving strange translation.

I'm glad that you noticed my Korean post. Did you translate it back into german? Steemit can make a lot of fun. One reply to my post was written in Korean and it was possible to translate it into understandable english. The german version was pretty cruelsome.

hahaha yeah the broken mic, there used to be a game, people gather in a circle and one says a word to the ear of the person sitting next, then the circle is completed in the same fashion, so in the end you are either amazed or bewildered :D
