Last month, my family and I attended C2E2. In a previous post about the convention, I shared some of my pictures of some dedicated geeks posing and showing off their awesome costumes. However, catching these "living museum exhibits" at their finest is only half the fun.

One of my absolute favorite things to do at geeky conventions is to catch hard core cosplayers in regular, mundane, or funny situations.

Don't worry, even I have my limits... so there will be no bathroom shots.

Do you remember that movie where Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe and The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man team up to travel around the country on a talking motor cycle with a side car solving crimes and getting into hijinks?

Yo Joe... eat those quality marshmallows!

Neither do I.

But you have to hand it to these two brave friends who decided they would dress like a completely nonsensical team and walk around a convention filled with 70,000 people.

Sometimes you learn that even a Good Witch has her breaking point.

These conventions involve a ton of walking through ridiculously crowded aisles. It is only natural that some hostilities would break out.

You wanna piece of me?! Then step up little boy. I'll go all flying monkey all over your ass!

The guy in green clearly did not want "any of that" and sheepishly walked away to join the rest of the Rat Pack.

Sometimes you get to witness some very interesting conversations.

Wait. Who are you supposed to be?

I could only hear Batman's half of the conversation. If I recall correctly, it went a little bit like this...

"Wait. Who are you? "

"Slow down. I'm trying to look it up in my phone. S-P-A-C-E-B-A-L-L-S."

"I'm Batman from that 2 minute dream/hallucination sequence in Batman vs Superman that no one understands or cares about."

"No I can't explain the scene to you. No one can. It makes absolutely no sense at all to anyone ever. But don't I look cool?"

"You're mean. You can't come to my birthday party."

Then they sadly parted ways. Chalk it up as another friendship destroyed by that horrible abomination that was Dawn of Justice.

I really enjoy when people customize their costumes and combine two characters to make something truly unique.

This was a perfect example. It was a combination of Spaulding from Caddyshack dressed as Darth Maul from The Phantom Menace.

I want a hamburger. No, cheeseburger. I want a hot dog. I want a milkshake. I want potato salad...

It was awesome when the cosplay Judge Smails showed up.

You get to witness complete strangers taking the time to help one another.

I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to pleather.

"And you say the rash is everywhere your suit touches? Well according to WebMD you should..."

I walked away before I could hear anymore gross details.

Sometimes things get a little too "real".

I think this guy actually believed he was getting lessons from the real Darth Vader...

So I hold my hand like this and say, "Mom, you will make me some Hot Pockets now."

I truly hope he got those Hot Pockets.

When they aren't posing for pictures, its easier to see them as people with real problems.

The position I found this Pac-Man in made me think of one question...

How do you go to the bathroom when you are dressed as a giant Pac-Man?

Not all of the candids are silly.

Sometimes the images are actually pretty cool.

Some day my prince will come.

Other times they are of a full-grown adult dressed as Buzz Lightyear*...

To infinity and... a really long train ride home.

If you HAD to dress up like someone or something from pop culture, what costume would you wear?

*I am completely kidding when it comes to poking fun at cosplayers. All of these jokes were meant to be accompanied with a huge smile while joking with the cosplayers. I honestly have a deep respect for people who say, "To Hell with anybody who doesn't like it. I'm not hurting anybody. I'm doing what I like. I'm having fun!"
