The Rick-Roll Phenomenon

in funny •  6 years ago  (edited)

So, many people know what "Rick-Rolling" is. For those that are unfamiliar, back in the late 1980's, there was a musician named Rick Astley who had some hits such as 'Never Gonna Give You Up' and 'Together Forever'. They dominated the charts in the US for a while. And while, Rick Astley, who is not a native of the United States, has a very distinct sound to him, did not have many hits in the US after that, he is still highly remembered.

There is a phenomenon behind him, to which he admittedly, does not mind. You can read more about how this prank got started here.

Basically, it is a prank on a person, or group of people, and is used as a meme or shows scenes from his 'Never Gonna Give You Up' video right in the middle of a broadcast. When some religious groups were protesting a concert of a band I like, which I won't mention in this post, they could have done a lot of things. Instead, what did they do? They drove by the protest, in the bed of a truck, blaring 'Never Gonna Give You Up' and 'Rick-rolled' the protest to lighten up the situation.

In turn, I give you, my Rick-roll no one was expecting. :)

80-90 era musicians always produce good work in enjoy until now. Rick Rolling one of them, but I enjoy more songs Heavy Metal flow like Metallica, Antrax, G'nR and so forth.

Yes, I do, as well. But this is still an on-going craze around here to pull this prank. Especially when someone edits a news media post and puts a piece of this video in it.

So why do not you write a video link from Rick Rolling?

Excellent post!
