Recently I received an email from my car insurance company with a list of the ten most stolen vehicles in the US.
This list is usually compiled and published all over the web, hundreds of articles asking the same question is your car on the hitlist?
The most stolen new vehicles:
- Toyota Camry
- Nissan Altima
- Toyota Corolla
- Dodge Charger
- Hyundai Sonata
- Ford Fusion
- GMC Sierra
- Hyundai Elantra
- Ford Pickup (full size)
- Ford Transit
Regardless of whether your auto is on the hitlist or not, it doesn't have any effect. I don't know why my insurance agency would even send me such an email. My auto is not on the rundown, they definitely realize that, but rather accepting it was, what might they anticipate that me will do about it?
Possibly they need me to be more mindful about auto robberies so they don't wind up paying for it if my auto is stolen...
No that's not my car, I do not go to that extreme, but some people do. In fact that email made me want to see how far people go to prevent their car from being stolen:
