The 2nd Amendment : For Muskets Only?!

in funny •  8 years ago

People have been telling us for years that the 2nd amendment was written in a time of Muskets, and that it doesn't apply to the evolved weapons of today. Is it true?

Correctly stated the 2nd Amendment was written during musket times. It was written for the citizens to protect themselves against a federal government that used muskets with their muskets. The federal government would love for us to believe that the purpose was only for muskets but the fact is it is so that the American public is able to be equally armed against a tyrannical government. So with that being said if the federal government only had muskets I could see them saying this but seeing as how that is not the fact it is definitely not true. Throughout history only a tyrannical government would ever try to disarm its citizens. One of the reasons that the United States has survived as long as it has is because of its citizenry being armed.

it's just like any other technology just going to keep on advancing more and more. people have nothing else better to do but to make other people lives more harder.

If you look closely at the history of the American Revolution, the Second Amendment also 'included' cannon and ships. One of the striking military aspects of the War of Independence was the fact that the Brit regulars did not have a monopoly on any class of materiel available at the time. Guns? The colonists had lots of those. Cannon? In a pinch, the colonists could forge their own. Ships? Smugglers' ships don't require much conversion to be used as war ships.

How different from today...
