Fixing an "Old Electrician" SNAFU ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Dad tried to fix the ceiling fan switch, and I think he burnt up the fan motor in the process ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

UPDATE: YAY!!!

OK, Dad is still the Best Electrician I Know, he did not hurt it, it was hooked up CORRECTLY, it was just the WRONG SWITCH. There is no way of knowing this UNTIL U BUY THE SWITCH
The diagram I downloaded is the correct one and I was able to make the Fan WORK w/o a Switch. So I then had Dad get the VOMM and we tested the switch. It does not work the way the diagram calls for. Either this is an oddball Fan (most likely) or they do not have the correct switch at Menards Dad even had it hooked up Correctly, but the diagram shows an unconventional numbering system... Line and #3 are switched. Line is always the Hot Wire INPUT.

SO...

Old MUM will just have to use it HIGH and OFF. Until we get the right switch that is, or just put up with a one speed fan. But Dad said it right, she usually runs it full blast while cooking. It is over the cook top. It will prolly Stay a "one speed" Fan!
