Sharing Some Data Since We Launched Games Criticker: Top 5 Video Games and Board Games

in game •  7 years ago

It's now been a little over two weeks since we launched Criticker Games, and so far, it's been a great success. In that short amount of time, we've already counted over 10,000 ratings on games, along with nearly 2000 mini-reviews.

Here on Steemit, we'd like to share some data from this early phase in Criticker Game's life. Without any further ado, here are the top 5 most-ranked video games and board games since the launch.

TOP 5 VIDEO GAMES

  1. Grand Theft Auto V
The stylised graphics, the soundtrack, the idiosyncratic characters, and the brilliantly funny dialogue make this a fun game from start to finish. Whether you're on a shooting rampage or just driving down a highway in the wonderfully created world, this game is the prefect blend of satire and escapism. Definite replay value, despite an inkling of micro-transactions. Review by amazedemon

  2. Portal
An absolute innovation upon release. Portal was originally only available as part of the Valve Orange Box compilation, which may have been because they didn't know how to market what was almost an extended tech demo. It's a first person physics based puzzle game with some levels lasting mere seconds. The game itself can be completed in minutes, but most will be challenged for a good few hours. A cult classic, Portal paved the way for a full blown sequel which surpassed all expectations. Review by philamental

  3. BioShock
A stellar shooter with a great setting and some solid storytelling. Loved all of the crazy powers you could use and how enjoyable it was to explore each location. The game lacks good enemy variety and there's very little challenge to it due to how poorly it punishes you for failure. Still, taking down the Big Daddies that roam the setting is satisfying as hell and it avoids a lot of the bland trappings a lot of shooters would fall for a few years after its release. 4. Portal 2
One of the best video game sequels ever. It’s not very deep, it’s just a really fun time with loads more of te humor and puzzling that made the first game so fun. This one is more challenging as well. I’ll go back to replay it and forget how to do certain test chambers. Really fun from waking up to that beautiful song right before the credits. The co-op is fun played with a good friend like any other co-op game. One of my favorite games for sure. Review by Leonardis

  5. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Absolutely amazing. Take a formula that has worked well in the past, and then make it even better. Even if every character you ever try to play is a stealth sniper archer, there is just so much to explore in this game. And, man, once you start modding it, the game takes on almost infinite dimensions. A true achievement in gaming, and here's hoping that they will eventually try to top this one. Review by martryn

Top 5 Board Games

  1. Cards Against Humanity
I have never seen a game that can be played with anyone and have such different results. It's replayable and has a huge amount of expansions so as to not get stale answers. It's almost as much fun as watching the company itself fuck with people constantly. Review by hellboy76

  2. Scrabble
Words with Friends, except in real-life. Can be quite boring without implementing some sort of time limit for moves. And will be frustrating if you're playing against someone who is making up words first and checking against a dictionary afterwards. Review by martryn

  3. Chess
My main problem with this game is the way that it seems to be at its most enjoyable when both sides know very little about established strategies and are just winging it. Review by Daisoujou

  4. Catan
The base game is fun and certainly what started my (still burgeoning) interest in legitimate board games. When I first played it with a regular group of friends, we played waaaayyyy too much and I feel like we more or less exhausted all the possibilities. Luckily the expansion sets add a lot more complexity and variation (including the Game of Thrones edition I just got!) Review by mattorama12

  5. Clue
Dull. The movie was better than the game. And there are better games in this genre. I hate that you can play a character, and that character actually be the murderer. What is your win condition then? Killing the other players? Bleh. Not even an option. Review by martryn
