Many fans found their business model somewhat abusive.
Similar to what happened with Electronic Arts and Star Wars Battlefront 2 , Take-Two claims to have taken good note of the criticisms issued regarding NBA 2K18 , a game that saw its reputation weighed down by a system of microtransactions that a good part of the community considered flattering for whoever was willing to open the portfolio.
Speaking with Game Informer , Strauss Zelnick - president of the company - stated: "Without doubt, we pay attention to the response of the consumer because we strive to attract, captivate and entertain." Every time we receive less than 1,000% positive impressions, we stop and we we ask, what should we do differently? " Once this was clarified, Zelnick had the opportunity to open up to the impressions facing NBA 2K18.
"I think there is a small part of the user base that basically wants everything for free, and we can not help them, but most consumers simply look for a good transaction," the manager explained. "We want to give consumers much more than they have paid." As a result, Zelnick concluded that, as an entertainment company, "if we get [to please consumers], everything else will flow alone."
Will NBA 2K19 have learned of these problems? It will not be long to find out: it will go on sale on September 11 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
