Game Development Social Experiment Idea.

You know how they say if you put immortal monkey in a room with a unbreakable typing machine he would eventualy write Hamlet . Just the other day somewhat crazy idea poped up in my mind after re-watching "Twitch plays DarkSouls" (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitch_Plays_Pok%C3%A9mon if you want to know more, it is different game but same concept, just have in mind that DarkSouls is brutally hard game) and since then i haven't stopped thinking about it. What if someone was to make a "Patreon" project or "Kickstarter" project where he would after certain number of backers, add features to the game that would be randomly drawn from pool of ideas provided by the comunity. Just the idea in which group of random strangers or a community participate in something like that to create a playable game, tickles my curiosity. Of course set of rules would ensure this project doesn't go off the rails, or becoming bornig. The whole project would be fueled by community and game would change and flow according to the almost total randomness.
Potentially game would be constantly in development untill all of the community would lose interest. I personaly think this could be great and fun project. It definately needs more thought to it so im interested in what do you guys think about this? Is this bad idea, would you add something different to it or do you think it is complete waste of time?
