Arpago - top-down retro action RPG - gameplay video

in gamedev •  7 years ago  (edited)

As I am progressing with the development of my game, here's a little update. I am working environment design of town and its surrounding area, so I added few little dirt paths, bushes here and there, random props to fill empty spaces and so on ;)

Below is a short video shows exploration of the town around during the day.

I also prepared a rough writedown of the lore and history of Arpago's world, which I am going to post when it's mostly finished :)

As a bonus, here are some older vids showing trading square of the town with a cool fountain!

hey man this looks pretty sweet! I'm getting old school runescape vibes from this, but mixed with some interesting characters.

excited to follow along your progress, keep up the great work :)
[ what are you making this in, btw? ]

Thank you, I am aiming for pseudo-PSX style, it's really motivating to hear so much good stuff about my choice :)

I am using Unity, version 5.3 - I started the project 2 years ago and every time I tried moving to a newer version, stuff broke so much that I decided to stay with what I have :)

haha rolling changes breaking your game, I've definitely been there!

I really like your low-poly art style, the PSX style really shows and it looks great!

Well, Unity improves a lot with every major patch, and I could use some new features they introduced... From what I read updating projects isn't that complicated, but I am not a programmer and fixing 12000 lines of UnityScript that I somehow wrote over 2 years would be too time-consuming and probably exhausting. So I make do with what I have :D
