Catan is a game Frank and I enjoy, and while it might be fun playing on a tablet, it's much more fun playing for real. We recently bought the game and we enjoy playing it with the kids. We're still not certain if Monopoly takes longer or if Catan takes longer, I guess it depends how many times the Robber falls (the 7 is rolled).
Whenever we play, we like to play around with our pieces, the little roads, and houses that represent Settlements, and the bigger houses that represent Cities. We don't just try to settle the realm of Catan, we settle the game pieces and create villages, and cities, and fortresses, which of course slowly get taken apart as the game advances and as we settle the game board.
Over here you have the little Village of Binkyburg (my creation). With a variety of property types, it is sure to accommodate folks of various budgets. A path leads West and North, while a little river and bridge can be found near the village's main entrance.
Over here you have the Blockwood Palace (step daughter's first creation), isolated from noise, and looking remarkably like something near the Winter Palace from the Dragon Age video game.
Over here you have the Flow Refuge Camp (step son's creation), a sturdy fortress-like settlement made specially for the refugees of Catan.
Here you have the mighty Blockwood Fortress (step daughter's second creation), situated near the Blockwood Palace, and home to the citizens of Blockwood. It's immense arch is one of its spectacular monuments and it has survived many a battle.
And finally we come upon the Cluster-Frank (Frank "non" creation), an abandoned village that has seen much destruction and that the giant Frank has left in devastation, as its citizens have fled to nearby villages and cities. It is said secret treasures have been buried deep within its soil, but none have dared to return to the devastated lands.
