Arcade Gaming expected to go VR and Autonomous

Home gaming consoles have seized the gaming market for over a decade now. So, the need for specialized components is no longer required to boost the performance of those bulky arcade games!

And what did that spell for old school arcade games toward the end of the 1990s?

It spelled the end that's what!

It all came down to the evolution of those giant-sized arcade gaming consoles.

And these were games that catered to every kid's gaming needs in those old school days of yester-year.

Although recently, they're slowly resurfacing, and they're being pushed to the consumer market.

Now, the funny thing is...

How in the world are these old dinosaur gaming platforms going to stand up to home gaming consoles like the Xbox or PlayStation?

Because the last time I checked, home consoles have been raking in some SERIOUS cash in 2022!

Well, needless to say, there's a hidden element in the mix for the arcade oldies, but goodies gaming boxes.

And what might that be you thinking?

LOL.

That's what I'm about to share with you right now, and there's no doubt it’s gonna blow your mind!

The First Aspect to Reviving Old School Arcade Games

I mean, come on you hardcore gamers!

You had to see this one coming, and if not, then what world do you hail from?

One has to understand that the gaming market is continuing to expand far beyond than many would expect.

Even so, like the entertainment and the music industries, consumers are buying what the big gaming companies are selling.

Another factor that can't be overlooked is the pandemic.

Because of the viral agent floating around at large, many are deadlocked within the home entertainment genre.

So, even if the arcade venue was still around in full-force (there’s not many left besides places like Odyssey World, Chuck E Cheeses, amongst other fewer ones) gamers will choose to play a home gaming console rather than a gaming machine at an arcade.

Now, I gotta share this secret with those who are too young to know about Chuck E Cheeses.

At one time, it was formerly named ShowBiz Pizza Place, and the slogan behind the name was - “Where a kid could be a kid”.

Later, the company became Chuck E Cheeses in the early 1990s.

Even when I was a kid, game rooms such as Aladdin’s Castle, Dave & Buster’s, Friar Tuck’s, The Tilt, Wright’s BarnYard (which became Hollywood Park) were vastly popular back in those days.

The gaming business itself has grown dramatically in the last few decades, from the advent of arcades to the development of home consoles.

Today, there are an estimated 2.7 billion gamers globally, and the gaming industry is expected to generate over $200 billion in sales as we move through the 2020s.

The gaming industry has been evolving since the 1970s, and it brought us a multitude of games and advancements within the tech and game industry.

Even the full motion 4K quality videos shown in these games are simply too elegant to describe.

And what used to be considered just a "Child's Game" has become one of the leading industries in the world today!

There's also another marketing secret many people aren't aware of, and I found this out when I used to game at Friar Tuck's.

At Tuck's, they were moving into another direction back in the late-90s.

And this direction was to be considered an experiment with online gaming.

At that time, online gaming was new, and the term "lagging" would soon manifest from this connection between local game rooms.

Games such as Mortal Kombat 3, was one of the first to be included in this form of online transfer.

Although it gained notability, it failed to go over well with gamers who became annoyed by the lagging.

I mean, I tried it when I was there; and the lagging was ANNOYING!

Here I am told by the owner Paul...

"Hey Jaye, try this out because we need feedback from gamers to see if there's anything we can improve on."

And so, I did and found that the gameplay wasn't the greatest.

Which showed when I played against another player from a local arcade a few towns away.

Mortal Kombat is a fighting game for those who may not know (LOL, even though I don't see how anyone could not know in this day and age).

And my opponent was able to get in an extra 2 to 3 moves, and I'm trying to start up a combo attack (pressing buttons) and the fighting character reacts 2 seconds later!

THAT WILL GET YOU TOOK OUT QUICK FOLKS! LOL.

Especially for games like Mortal Kombat 3, because the game engine that runs the game was too fast.

The network carrier's signal couldn't match the speed of the gameplay.

So, trying to bring the idea up in company meetings had to be a nightmare for advertising marketers, I'm sure!

That meant trying to appeal to a major company such as Sony was going to be difficult due to the lagging issue.

They did solve the problem of course, and that was switching from dial-up speed to broadband speed.

And that was always the main issue right there, because dial-up networks were never great for online gaming.

Online Gaming: Eradicating Lag Issues for Marketability

Now, I checked out a post over at steamcommunity.com, where a user named Xakurinha (whether they are a he or she) voiced a rather different perspective about the matter.

Xakurinha, believes that both the route and infrastructure provided to consumers who only pay for a 10MB (10 MegaBytes) connection are frequently of poor quality.

Xakurinha also stated that distance, such as playing an opponent from a country like Japan shouldn't cause issues of any sort.

And they said playing over a 512Kbps (Kilobytes Per Second) or 10Mbps (MegaBytes Per Second) shouldn't affect the connection.

Now, to a degree I agree with a good 50% of what Xakurinha has stated.

Although, I'm thinking he or she is talking about a wired connection, or what is known as an ethernet cable.

Depending on the grade or quality of the ethernet cable connection could play a factor.

If the signal is too weak to pass through the cable, or it's the reverse the cable quality is crappy.

Then yeah, you'll wind up with some crappy reception depending upon whatever console you're using.

But here's another factor I had checked into.

Whenever your local network is producing sluggish speeds or you're experiencing connection issues.

Then it's best to replace any ethernet cables that may be the source of your problems.

It's an issue people tend to overlook, although it's not to be rooted out as a nonfactor.

If there's physical damage to the wire, then it will affect your network connection to some degree.

And that slight degree, of course, is lagging!

Other problems such as breakage in the ethernet cable, or if there's existing cracks within the cable line is an indicator to change it out for a new one.

A great type of ether cable is the RJ45 connector (that has plastic connecting tips at both ends of the cable line).

Online Gaming Market Crossing into the realms of VR and Automation

Once a variety of issues were fixed, it was then time for new proposals to be overlooked once again.

Sony was at the front of the pack of other gaming magnates.

Behind them were companies such as Midway, and more recognizable ones such as Capcom.

Now, of course, many of you know that the Mortal Kombat brand belongs to Midway.

Many business brands helped to expand Midway's reach, and games such as Mortal Kombat brought in millions of dollars for the company.

Unfortunately, the company went belly up in 2009 (they faced bankruptcy). And that spelled the end for Midway.

Although, it was Warner Brothers, who got the licensing rights to continue the franchise's legacy.

And the reason why they incorporated the franchise into the Warner ranks, was because of its marketability.

So, in retrospect, the home entertainment consoles have taken concepts from Arcade gaming.

This will expand to more interactive circles surrounding innovations such as VR and Automation.

As of now, the big bucks will be made there without a doubt.

Seeing that's the case, then the possibilities of expanding the gaming industry further is inevitable.

And that means more money for the gaming company giants, which puts happy faces on the consumers!
