Kings of War: Vanguard has a Giant Update and Cool Stretch Goals!

I don't want to wear out my welcome with Kickstarter posts, but this campaign just keeps getting better and better! There are only a couple days left in the Kings of War: Vanguard Kickstarter campaign, and a fourth warband is about to be unlocked!

There is also a new pledge level: $150 pledged earns all three (soon to be four) warbands with all of the resin miniatures, all of the terrain pieces, and a new giant model that should stand approximately 7" (18cm) tall in a game where all the other models are only about 1-1/4" (3cm) tall. Split the deal with a friend or three and with any luck you'll have an amazing game delivered some time before Christmas 2018! See the image below from the Kickstarter campaign for all the goodies!

Do people really pay this much money for a game? I play Empire Builder series games and when I have to pay $30 for one, I think that is pretty high.

Miniature wargaming and skirmish games are a whole new level of expense, and Mantic is relatively cheap compared to the likes of Games Workshop. Rulebooks are usually $30-$50, and miniatures are often $30 for a squad of 10 soldiers, or even more for heroes and characters. $150 for 75-100 minis, a rulebook, dice, terrain pieces, and objective markers is a screaming good deal in that market.

Basically, the campaign covers the cost of making molds for the miniatures and printing the books, and we get the first production run as thanks.

Ok. That's for sure a game I could not afford to play, even if I wanted to.

Understandable. Tabletop war games are not for everyone. Still, you could get the rulebook and a starter warband from their existing lines for $50 if you prefer to enter at a much power price point. Heck, the rules are free to download, and you can use any minis on square bases to give it a try.

a very nice game is achieved... :))
