Magic: The Gathering Dominaria Booster Battle Pack

I have opened a few of these for previous releases. Let's look at a Dominaria Booster Battle Pack!

The idea here is to start playing a simplified version of the game using two 30-card decks. There are two of the semi-randomized decks one finds in a deckbuilder's toolkit, two sealed packs of cards from the Dominaria release, and a quick-stary rule guide. The cardboard sleeve inside the box says to choose a deck, open the packs, each player adds up to 5 cards to their chosen deck, and then shuffle and play.

This box contained a white deck and a red deck.the white cards include a stack of lands, a lot of commons from the Khaladesh and Amonkhet blocks, and a few cards with the 17 set mark. While core sets were never officially released for a few years, these seem to be from the "Welcome Deck 2017" mini-set. I have no idea whether they will ever have any collector value. Probably not.

The red deck includes red commons and two uncommons from the Khaladesh and Amonkhet sets along with a couple of its own '17' cards and a stack of red land.

Pack 1

The commons from the first pack offer a few interesting cards. I haven't played with this set particularly though, so I can't offer much beyond the comment that Opt, Excavation Elephant, and Mesa Unicorn might be useful in my Commander decks.

The uncommons and rares from this pack almost all look useful in my decks. Seal away is $1.20 right now, and the foil Syncopate might have some trade value at around $1.50. I even like the blooming saproling token. No high-dollar cards, but fun stuff.

Pack 2

Windgrace Acolyte might find a place in my BUG Zombies deck due to potentially milling me free zombies. The reat may find use in other decks. There are 10 though, so no foil card in this pack.

None of the uncommons or the rare are price winners here, but the Precognition Field and Slinn Voda will be useful for my mono-blue control deck, and @generikat may want Jhoira's Familiar for her fartifact deck. Not bad in my opinion.

I have bought another of these in the past, and pulled a nice mythic rare Lyra Dawnbringer, currently a $13 card. That also contained a Jodah, Archmage Eternal. He is a potential 5-color commander despite his price sitting well under a dollar.

These packs are a good way to start playing, or to buy a quick fun game for about $10.00. The packs may have hidden gems, or junk, just like any other packs. The rare cards headlining the 30-card random decks are not high dollar cards, but may be useful to you. It might be worth a try, especially if you're new to Magic.
