Welcome back, readers! This mission was the first time that my troops must be transported by boats, in this game, they are called sampan or junk, to attack an enemy city. It was quite a rigorous endeavor as my troops once placed inside the boats would be sapped out of their strength even if the boats were inside my city. I must strategize in such a way that my troops will be at their high strength to attack the enemy city. Let’s see the timeline of this mission.
At 2:56 mins, while my warriors were away conquering county towns, the blue enemies attack my city but were swiftly taken down by my archers.
At 25:28 mins, I announced my invasion upon Wujun.
At 35:50 mins, I arrived at the enemy’s city bypassing the city gates with a few archers. This meant that I can attack the enemy directly. I am testing the strength of the enemy and landed all my archers but one was saved.
At 49:17 mins, I seek to conquer Kuaiji but failed as my troops were outnumbered.
At 57:08 mins, this was my last and second attempt to conquer the city and I succeeded. Below is the prologue, dialogue, and mission.
Prologue
Wujun was a district controlled by Yan Baihu, who called himself the Virtuous King of Eastern Wu. He was also known by his given name which means “White Tiger”. Wang Lang was guarding Kuaiji. After his occupancy of the lower reaches of the Great River and his encouragement to the local people, Sun Ce took advantage of the prevailing circumstances and went south to capture the land south of the Great River.
In fear of Sun Ce’s power, Yan Baihu offered to share the rule of the land south of the Great River with Sun, but Sun Ce declined the proposal. Yan Baihu understood the futility of further resistance and fled to Yuhang and then to Wang Lang in Kuaiji. Wang Lang dismissed the counsel of Yu Fan, a district official from Yuyao in Kuaiji, and joined forces with Yan Baihu, but they were defeated by Sun Ce. Sun Ce captured Kuaiji. Yan Baihu decided to return to the area of Yuhang to seek revenge, but on the way, he was killed by Dong Xi.
Next, Sun Ce eliminated the mountain bandits near Xuancheng and the region was pacified. From that time, Sun Ce took full control of all the strategic points along the Great River. His troops were excellent and his supplies were ample. Sun Ce had established his powerful position with the help of many able men gathered around him.
Dialogue
Sun Ce: We have conquered all the counties south of the Great River except Wujun and Kuaiji. How do we plan to occupy these two?
Zhou Yu: General, since we can only try to capture the city of Kuaiji by the waterway, we must take Wujun first. The second step is to produce boats and train an elite navy. Finally, you can take over Kuaiji easily by leading your troops downstream.
Mission
Occupy Wujun and Kuaiji
