This one's basically just pinball. If you don't like pinball, it won't change your mind. That said there are some neat flourishes that come from the "Galactic" theme that wouldn't be possible with irl pinball. Nothing as elaborate as, say, Devil's Crush for the PC Engine though.

Simply called "Space Pinball" during development, it was one of a couple of titles with the "space" prefix, like the Japan only Space Squash. I am unsure what connection there is between VR and space except that the Virtual Boy is very good at doing deep, rich blacks.

There is surprisingly little variety here. You really need to spice up pinball to make it worth adapting to videogame form, like the Metroid Prime Pinball game for the DS. They didn't do that. Aside from little stuff like smashing asteroids, it's a pretty bog standard pinball game.

Still, it's fun. It's a finished game and plays well, which is more than could be said for many games in the Virtual Boy's tiny library. I'll try to score it fairly despite personally not finding pinball terribly compelling, outside of games like Alien Crush, Devil's Crush and Metroid Prime Pinball.

Why did we get this instead of Bound High? Why this, and not a US localization of Space Squash, imo a better game? I would understand such a strange decision from Sega, but Nintendo? Did they want the Virtual Boy to fail? They sure didn't do a great job of making sure its best games were available in the US. But I digress.

I give Galactic Pinball a 6/10. Good 3D depth effect which adds something neat to pinball on a game console. If you don't care for pinball in general though, this is not for you.
