Great review man! Never tried playing platform style of game but this game looks impressive. I love that the characters are in 3D form.

    This is a Metroidvania game, so it's a bit different than normal platformers. This genre have more backtracking & bosses than platformers.

          Yep, this is true! Metroidvania are one of my favorite genres!

          I love the exploration based gameplay and with the added RPG element found in Bloodstained it's an addictive concoction!

          I would highly suggest playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night as well, if you haven't already. 😁

            It's in my to get list for a long time but I have games I want to try before. I don't know if I'll buy the PS4 collection (not that I have money currently) or just download/emulate the PS1 version.

              That's a tough choice! Obviously, playing the original on the PS1 would be fun for nostalgia's sake, but then the PS4 version had many enhancements that improved the game.

              I recently played the version that came with the Requiem Collection found on the PS4 and it was a great port. Not only was it upscaled so you could play it in HD but it also used the new translation (and voice cast) found on the PSP version. Konami also included some of the bug fixes and features that were added to the Saturn version.

              Honestly, I think the PS4 port may be the definitive version of Symphony of the Night. :D

                It was a fun game and it really brought me back to my younger days and playing games just like it!
