In honor of the 10th Gamescom convention, celebrated in Germany, I'm taking a look at some of the trailers and gameplays being revealed in this gaming event.
Supermassive Games, responsible for the horror gem Until Dawn, comes back with another turn of unfortunate events with The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan. Another entry in the choose-your-own-adventure storytelling, each game within it will be set in the same universe, but entirely self-contained. The 1st one follows a boat in the Pacific South, where 4 friends are kidnapped and end up trapped on a ghost ship, where they’ll have to survive both the kidnapper himself and the supernatural entities in the environment.
Instead of focusing on a single protagonist, Man of Medan has 5 playable characters. The game switches between them, to both keep its story moving forward while forcing you to make decisions that might result in the death of a character… Oh, and the best part is that there’s a possibility to end the game with all of them alive or all dead.
The gameplay shown is giving me EXACTLY WHAT I WANT IN A GAMEPLAY: Making us feel part of this new experience, while simultaneously giving us something to anticipate. The characters who we see in this clip are well rendered, and the ship actually looks cool, but what really helped makes this a interesting first look is the camera angles and positions… It felt very cinematic: Although I think the facial features might need a bit more work, the potencial and my geuinine excitement is here, it gave me fear and I’m gonna get used to it.
Score >>4/5. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan comes out in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Heeeeere’s the gameplay! >>
