Raikou August Research Breakthrough wrap up

in gaming •  6 years ago

Last week on August 24 I caught my 4th Raikou from the weekly Research Breakthrough and realised that if I kept it up I would be able to catch a 5th one on August 31. There was however a news post before then that said "Fire up September field Research Tasks with the Legendary Pokémon Entei!".

So I have decided that I'll try to go for an Entei on September 1 and then be able to get 5 Entei during September. I only managed to do 2 Entei raids when they were around and was unable to catch one. So I'll get my 1st Entei in September 1. With being able to get 5 throughout the month I increase my chance to get a good one. For that I played with time a bit again as I did for A Ripple In Time. More on that after I talked about wrapping up about Raikou.

These are all the Raikou I caught so far. With the last 6 being from raids and the first 4 as my Research Breakthrough rewards this August. Apparently two of my Raikou are 96% IV from the weekly reward. As I said after catching the first 96% I would power that one up at the end of the month unless I got a better one. Since I ended up with 2 96% I had to check which one's better. The 1428 CP one has 15 attack, 15 defense and 13 HP and the 1426 CP one has 14 attack, 15 defense and 14 HP. Since it would only be used for attacking the 1428 with max attack remained most favourable to power up.

While powering it up it reached 1999 CP which I found a nice moment to stop for a bit and take a screenshot. Then I continued further powering it up. My best Mewtwo, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Ho-Oh and Lugia are all at level 31 where they require 6000 stardust and 6 candy to power up. So this is where I wanted to get my Raikou at too. I had to use somewhere around 40 Rare Candy to get enough Raikou candy. I've been stockpiling like 150 Rare Candy for such moments.

Here it is, all finished up at level 31 with a nice 2903 CP. I've also changed its Volt Switch fast attack to Thunder Shock as that is slightly better. Really happy with my Raikou now! I'll be able to use it alongside my Jolteon for battles where Electric type attacks are super effective!

This wraps it up for my Raikou from the August weekly Research Breakthrough rewards.

As for playing with time for Entei. On the 25th I would get my 1st stamp of the week again then. But I knew I would need to skip at least 1 day of getting a stamp from completing a single Research quest. So I decided to switch my timezone so that it would be past midnight and technically be the 26th in my game and then turn in a Research task to collect the stamp. Which you can see in the upper two parts of this image.

Then I changed my timezone back to automatic and launched the game again. Because of that time change it displayed Aug 25 on the stamp again instead of 26. When it really became the 26th at my place there was no white outline on the next empty stamp space despite the stamp saying Aug 25. This is because it got successfully marked as being completed on the 26th. As you can see the next 2 stamps are marked as Aug 27 and Aug 28. This way I was able to still do Research tasks on both August 25 & 26 while only one of them counting for the stamps. Now I just have to make sure I wait until 22:00 on September 1 before I finish any of my quests there otherwise it'll still be Raikou instead of Entei.

Always make sure you close the game completely before changing the timezone though if you want to try that out!
