In the early nineties capcom's street fighter 2 was the undisputed king of fighting games.

Many developers start to making fighting games to compete with the fantastic capcom arcade. In a few years the arcades were filled with street fighter clones... and some spiritual successors of the very first street fighter like snk's fatal fury (this one was developed around the same time as Street Fighter II)

Anyway most of the clones were condemned to oblivion because the lack of originality of the titles and the awesome and insuperable gameplay of capcom's game

The project born as an adaptation of one Van Damme film

But Van Damme refuses to take part in the project, in a irony of the destiny mr Damme ended in a similar but much worse project a few years later...

If you want to know more about Van Damme in street fighter the movie the game you can look this post

After Van Damme quit the guys continue whit the game...
They took some elements from Carpenter's movie "big trouble in little china"

All this mixed with a level of explicit violence never seen before and good looking realistic digitized live actors gave birth to Mortal Kombat

Ok, what about the game? well the game is average... (wait! wait! hold your torches!! let me expose my arguments!!)
I replay the game after years... but I still remenber the first impression as a child. First to all the seven selectables shares the same moves and speed, differing only in the special moves, was the first time in my life that I used a button to block too, and the mechanic of the game feels really strange in comparison with any fighting game out there in 1992... but Mortal Kombat had something... like... i dont know... EXPLICIT VIOLENCE!!!!!a very well made b martial arts movie ambient and crazy specials moves like the ability to freeze your oponent, teleport or punch him in the nuts. Enough to keep you playing the game until learn to love it.

This is my one coin try after years

And from the channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiJgzib9YqnxXqJFN57uDNg a gameplay better than mine

Nowadays we have a lot of violence and gore in games thanks to the controversials fatalitys of this one, rip the head of your oponent whit the spine atached was something new and provoctive, but this is material for another post.
thanks for the reads!!!
