I Just Got A Copy Of Octopath Traveller For Switch

The physical version of this game is sold out in numerous places across Asia, America and Europe. Fortunately, I pre-ordered through Amazon Australia and managed to grab myself a copy with no stock problems whatsoever.

It reached the point where Square Enix who severely underestimated the popularity and demand for the physical version of the game tweeted an apology for the shortage in Japan where it sold out repeatedly in a few short hours.

Sorry for the scarce situation. We will continue to ship the product in full order to deliver a sufficient number, but the most recent shipments are expected to become a fairly small number yet. I am very sorry to have kept you waiting. I hope you will consider the download version if you like.

The game itself which I am about eight hours into is fantastic. It has a beautiful high-definition 2D art style and the gameplay is great. I am also fond of the long-drawn-out boss battles, the first boss in the cave when they take that kid took me like 10 minutes to defeat. Apparently, some other bosses can take upwards of 20 minutes.

If you can get your hands on a physical copy and love these Japanese style turn-based games, it's 100% worth buying because it's the most fun I have had since Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.

Congrats on your copy, I've pre-ordered mine as well and the game does feel extremely cool! The art style and the gameplay mechanics all seem to work so well together.
I've actually been doing some "historical" gaming posts lately, covering noteworthy games released in certain years (just made two about 93 and 2000) and Octopath Traveller is able to give "that feel", fitting all of this experience into a new console, that's a win for sure
