As part of the kickstarter package I bought, the developers of Crowfall are giving me the opportunity to name a fallen monarch and hero. They're names will be memorialized with monuments, streets named after them, and that sort of thing. Not sure how much they needed or wanted full back stories for both characters, but being the passionate storyteller I am, I couldn't resist an opportunity to spread their glory and share their tale. Hopefully you all will enjoy it too.
Greetings fellow gamers.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make my old GURPS (tabletop RPG) characters a permanent part of the Crowfall mythos. This was definitely one of the perks that made me choose the package that I did.
For my Fallen Monarch, I choose the name "Great MacGaellen". MacGaellen was a character inspired by the great explorer Magellan. In the gameworld I created, Great MacGaellen built the first ship capable of reaching the new continent, where he discovered many amazing people and places. Seeing much war and conflict between different races and factions, he decided to create a kingdom where all would be welcome. A place where all different kinds of folks could peacefully coexist. He declared the first law to be that no laws be made that apply to any particular race, religion, gender, creed, faction, school, or style. Great MacGaellen's Kingdom of the Free still stands today, and his message of tolerance and inclusion continues to be carried across worlds and to new realms.
For my fallen hero, I choose "Finwick Blackthorne". Fearless Finwick, as he was known, may have been the most powerful man who ever lived. He pushed the limits of his potential like no other. Always improving his mind and body through weapons training and study of the magical arts, Finwick outperformed wizard and warrior alike. Still not satisfied, Finwick left the Kingdom of the Free to search for ultimate wisdom and power. His journey brought him to the peak of Crystal Mountain, where he was blessed by many gods. He returned to the Kingdom of the Free wearing armor adorned with symbols of many different gods. With his new divine power, Finwick was unstoppable. With his help, The Kingdom of the Free finally won the very long and bloody War of the Four Kingdoms. Finwick's divine powers extended his lifespan to hundreds of years. When he drew close to his 500th year of life, he journeyed far North in search of the legendary Dragon Goddess, and was never heard from again.
Sorry about geeking out on you, but it seems like you guys might appreciate some back story to work with, maybe. Use it however you like.
Thanks again for making such an awesome game.
