Known for Lylat Wars in Europe, Star Fox was born in 1997. Its launch was a success, getting good reviews from the general public. At first it was thought to make this game a sequel to its previous version presented for Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), but Nintendo opted for its development for the N64 console. Inheriting certain characteristics of its predecessor, Star Fox was positioned as a great title, due to its shooter style outside the traditional, its great story (quite emotional) and great characters. All this earned him a remake for the Nintendo 3Ds console, but nothing will take away the merit achieved with only 64 bits.

His story is simple but exciting. Andross, a mad scientist was banished from Corneria and in turn locked in the planet Venom, this being the furthest from the entire galaxy.

Some time later, certain abnormal events on that planet begin to appear. A team of pilots consisting of: James McCloud, Pigma Dengar and Peppy Here (former Star Fox team alienation) was sent to investigate what happened in Venom. Upon arriving there, Pigma betrays his two companions and Andross captures James and Peppy. Managing to survive and escape, Peppy tells James's son, Fox, the death of his father, thus giving birth to the new Star Fox lineup, commanded by Fox himself. The rest of the line-up is made up of Slippy Toad, Peppy Hare and Falco Lombardi, and their mission is to take the order of the Lylat system and put an end to the hordes of enemies sent by Andross that intends to cause cras on all planets.

The concept of the game is basic and linear; we will control Fox, mostly in his Arwing (in some missions we will use a submarine called Blue Marine or a tank called Landmaster) and travel through the planets to reach Venom to stop Andross. We will have to shoot our enemies with the rest of the squadron in order to advance through the planets. At times Peppy, Falco or Slippy will need our help and it will be our duty to lend a hand to prevent their ships from exploding.

But not everything is as easy as it seems, since each of the different planets have a final boss who will try to put us in trouble. They present different designs and weak points. Similarly, depending on the route we take as we move through the game, we can face the pirate band called Star Wolf. A group commanded by Wolf O'Donnell, accompanied by his minions Leon Powalski, Pigma Dengar (former member of Star Fox) and Andrew (Nephew of Andross) will try to destroy the Star Fox team. Defeating them can be annoying, as each one of them It will be responsible for bringing down a member of our team (Wolf to Fox, Leon to Falco, Pigma to Peppy and Andrew to Slippy) and it will be our duty to help our teammates to avoid being destroyed.

There is a total of 16 missions, divided into three routes: easy, medium and hard.

    • For the easy route, the player must complete the missions in a normal way, without activating the secret routes. The level of difficulty is quite acceptable.
    • The middle route has a higher level of difficulty than the previous one. We can change the route through secret paths. We will have to meet certain requirements at certain levels in order to access the planets on this route. It should be noted that, in the case of Falco, it can take you to a secret path in Corneria to access this route or the difficult route, although if you do not have it in the alignment, getting here will be impossible.
    • For its part, the most difficult route of the game, is that by opening the secret path of Corneria with Falco to go to the Sector If the player reaches Venom through the difficult route, without making any alteration, we can face the real Andross and witness the true end of the game.

Star Fox gives us epic and well done songs, from the beginning theme to the ones we will listen to in each of the levels. Each piece placed to set the levels or the fights against the bosses will trap us in a way that will immerse us more in the story.

The multiplayer mode is entertaining but simple, we will play under the concept of death match, so it will win the last one standing. We can use our ships, tanks and even we can go on foot! (It should be noted that only in multiplayer can we walk on foot). Star Fox guarantees fun games and full of shots everywhere.

Star Fox is more than a game of ships, since it has many elements that make it stand out and be marked in the memory of each gamer. With dialogues impossible to forget, is and will always be a great delivery, one of the many that has the Nintendo 64. It was the best selling games of the year 1997, second only to Mario Kart, in addition, the game also took the place # 73 in Nintendo Power of the "Top 200 of Nintendo Video Games". It is and will always be a classic wherever you go.
