Resident Evil 4 is a game loved by some and hated by others. Loved for his bravery in showing us a different way of playing and understanding the Resident Evil saga, and hated by others for radically changing the survival formula that had led to the success of the saga. Personally, I am in favor of those who love him, because of his courage to give a clear evolution to the saga and above all to do so in an excellent way.

Resident Evil 4 is a jewel in every respect. The courage involved in turning the horror saga into action was considerable, but thanks to such courage, its director, Shinji Mikami, created the genre of the third person shooter. During our adventure we will put ourselves in the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy, an agent sent by the President of the United States to rescue his daughter Ashley in a Spanish town, from which the exact geography is unknown. From here we will find a story that engages and catches up to the end, we will defeat huge and imposing bosses and meet very peculiar characters.

All this mixed with a good dose of action, some puzzles in the style of the old days, although not so difficult, some cattle ranchers with a Mexican accent and certain scenes of terror and claustrophobia. If to this we add that Leon is a very charismatic character with whom we will feel identified, that the story gives for a long time and presents us very varied scenes and that the game comes loaded with a lot of extras, the result is Resident Evil 4, an authentic game of those who mark epoch and leave their mark in this world of
video games.

Resident Evil 4 has many virtues and many aspects can be praised but if there is something that stands out above the rest and shines with its own light, that is its great ambience.

From the first minute, the surroundings take centre stage: wrapped in a dense fog and surrounded by trees stripped of their leaves, the remote rural area we cross is grey, humid and sad.

The few buildings that exist -mainly huts and wooden houses-, fall to pieces of disuse and are furnished in Spartan form, showing signs of a disease that little by little has been taking over the region. A few minutes into the game, the sense of abandonment and decadence that Resident Evil 4 manages to convey is absolute.

Lacking life, the area's disturbing silence is only interrupted by the chilling cries of the natives: Spanish-speaking and gaunt appearance, they are hostile to any foreign presence. They are not living dead, they walk, run, talk to each other and carry weapons - but deprived by the force of their humanity, they are little more than slaves in the service of their master.

In addition to the impressive level of detail, there are a variety of scenarios. Beyond the village, there is a huge castle and within walking distance a highly fortified island, both with their own repertoires of zones and enemies.

Resident Evil 4 is a game that when I was a kid, I completed it 4 times in ps2 and 4 times in pc, I loved all its details.
