The highly anticipated new hero in Overwatch, Doomfist, recently was released into the Public Test Relm(PTR). It is a public server that Overwatch players have access, on PC only, to play the game and test out the new features, maps, or heroes Blizzard is looking to add to the game. The game testing that the public is doing is very important to the Overwatch development team and allows for them to see any bugs or unbalanced features to be addressed/fixed before released to the live game servers.
Some players use the PTR to genuinely help the dev team with fixes and tuning, others use it for a chance to touch and feel the new content before it actually comes out. There is a nice competitive advantage to those players who take the time to play on the PTR.
Doomfist has been on the PTR for sometime now. Already having received a nerf in the PTR, being tested by the player community has given the dev team some vital info to help with balancing Doomfist before his live server debut.
If you have not gone into the PTR to play Doomfist or you only play Overwatch on console and do not have access to the PTR your wait to finally play him is almost over. It was announced that Doomfist will be released to the live game servers for all platforms on July 27th.
