EVGA's upcoming RTX 2060 KOsteemCreated with Sketch.

Several days ago AMD announced it's upcoming RX 5600 XT at CES 2020 which I wrote an article about at the time. What I wasn't aware of is that EVGA, which is an exclusive manufacturer for Nvidia cards, decided to come out with what they hope is an answer for AMD's RX 5600 XT in the form of their very own RTX 2060 KO.

We don't know much yet about it's specs yet, but from what we've seen, it seems to be a slightly cut-down version of the RTX 2060, but at a savings of around $30 with a launch price of $299 USD and is set to launch on January 13th. This isn't a card that Nvidia themselves announced, but seems to be a card that will be exclusive to EVGA at least at the time of it's launch. Other manufacturers may end up following suit though.

Also from what we know, the card will feature a metal backplate as well as legacy DVI-D connector, a display port connector, and an HDMI connector. It doesn't feature much support for those who like to use a lot of monitors which is a bit disappointing. Currently on Newegg, they are selling an open-box RTX 2060 OC from Gigabyte that has 3 display ports and an HDMI port for just $4 more at $303 USD plus shipping.

I think it's great that Nvidia's partners are looking for "innovative" ways to compete with AMD's new cards, but I feel like EVGA, at least with this card in particular, may have cut too many corners. If it was simply a slightly down-clocked version of the card then I would say that this card's a pretty good deal, but with it's limited outputs on the card with one being a legacy DVI-D connector... it just doesn't seem like this will be the card that many gamers will be rushing out to buy. Sure, I think that some gamers will find it to be a great deal, but I don't think it's the answer that they're hoping it will be.
