During our childhood we spent our time watching animated series, animated series that to this day are remembered and maintained thanks to nostalgia. One of those animated series that I remember so much is the animated series of X-Men from the 90's, which at that time was broadcast on the Fox Kids channel (in Latin America they broadcast it on that channel, I do not know in other countries), and without a doubt it was one of the best series that I had the pleasure to see. As expected, because of the success he had, a video game based on this animated series was made.
In the world of the X-Men there are mutants, a group of heroes and also villains who are marginalized by society due to their skills, skills that in some cases serve to help the most needy, but even so, mutants are hated by most people because they are different from them and over the years they have fought to be given the right and recognition they deserve.
The history of this game is simple, our mission is to enter the island of Genosha where a group of mutants have been kidnapped to perform experiments with them, that is why Professor Xavier sends to that island 5 of his best X-men : Wolverine, Cyclops, Psylocke, Gambit and Beast.
Now the duty of the X-men is to enter the island, fighting against the horde of enemies that attack them without saying words, to save the mutants that have been kidnapped and find out who is behind this act.
This game does not have an extremely deep plot, in fact the approach of the mission is totally simple, but the strong point of this game is its gameplay, an aspect that we will talk about at the end.
One of the aspects that we noticed when playing this game is that it is graphically very similar to the animated series and the comics, the developers of this game shaped the visual aspect shown in both the comic and the animated series.
The characters have excellent designs, a pretty good modeling, full of details in each of the characters that we have the opportunity to have under our control, at the same time, the normal enemies, although in comparison with the playable characters do not stand out in details, they also have an excellent design and drawing.
The movements are quite fluid and natural, when attacking you will notice a high quality of movement in the animations, because it is a game where we move in horizontal scroll and we must go fighting against a number of enemies, this aspect was of great importance to demonstrate fluidity of movement.
The section on sound is not an aspect that stands out too much in this game, but it complies with what is necessary to musically set the stage and accompany us in our mission, each X-Men has its own main theme.
X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse could be considered a hybrid between the classic beat'em up and a platform game, we move laterally through scenarios where they appear a number of enemies that we must defeat using our best skills.
In this game we have 5 characters of which each have their own skills, movements and combos, in turn depending on the choice of the characters they will be placed in different scenarios of which our mission will be the same. We have:
- Wolverine:
One of my favorite Marvel characters, unlike his other companions, Wolverine has a better ability to move, is quick and uses his claws to eliminate enemies.
- Cyclops:
Comparing it with Wolverine, Cyclops is slower in its movements, its special ability is to throw rays from its eyes.
- Beast:
Beast is the slowest in terms of movement, both when walking and when attacking, but it is one of the strongest.
- Gambit:
The master of the cards, his powers based on the manipulation of cards covered with energy that he throws towards his enemies, also has a staff that also serves to attack and eliminate whoever is in front of him.
- Pyclocke:
Finally we have Psylocke, she appeared in the last movie of the X-men, demonstrating great skill when fighting, in the same way it presents this type of skills, being the fastest and most skillful of the 5 X -Men.
X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, is an excellent action game and an entertaining adoption of our favorite comics characters, a classic game of Super Nintendo and a game remembered by all those who had the pleasure of playing it.
X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse....all ready i played it
