No Man's Sky Will Probably Get A Major Update This August

This August 2017 will mark 1 year since the videogame No Man's Sky launched for both PC and PlayStation 4 last August 2016, receiving very mixed reviews shortly after, to say the least. The nearly infinite procedurally generated universe felt huge, epic, empty, and directionless, all at the same time. Over the months came the Foundation update which added the ability to build bases and own freighters, and then the Pathfinder update which allows to build up to three different land vehicles.

While both updates also added a number of side quests to obtain the needed materials and equipment, it is rumored that the August 2017 update may finally bring a story mode to No Man's Sky. Thats right, follow your character in some (hopefully epic) quest to ultimately bring down a villain or something, likely with NPCs that interact with you from mission to mission. It is also rumored that a new alien species will be added for this story mode.

I guess we will have to wait and see, but hopefully this update gives the game a real goal and a real meaning. Hello Games has created an interesting game in No Man's Sky and has been working hard on improving it.

Sounds great! I kind of like No Man's Sky, but there should be a greater sense of purpose and discovery. I'll be checking out the update :)

Yep, you are right. If the storyline is somewhat interesting it will be well worth it!

Nice! Looking forward to the No Man's Sky update! :D

:)

I'm pleased they're still working on what was essentially a unfinished game at launch.

Looks like BCH bitcoin cash has 12 billion market cap :) i have written an article :)

Do people still trust Hello Games after they disappeared and didn't give any sort of answer after that disastrous launch?

It's good to see the game improve, but, for me at least, it's too little, too late.

Thanks for the post!

To be fair, I think that talking too much is what actually came back to Sean Murray in a very punishing way. He promised a lot of stuff upon launch and the game failed to deliver. I can't blame him or Hello Games for shutting up in the time after that.

They deserved every bit of heat they got. It was straight up false advertising. I understand the cowering in fear, but they owed the buyers an explanation at the very least. My attitude towards them is "fuck 'em!"... They lied and delivered a completely different product than advertised. If they would've sold it as an artsy survival game, without promising the universe... that would've been fine.

Story mode is desperately needed, they built a galaxy of nothing much to do...

It's a bit late now though.
