It is amazing to think that enough time has passed for Call of Duty to release its latest DLC for its latest game, Black Ops 4. Titled Absolute Zero, the DLC was released with changes to all of the game modes playable in the game. The amount of changes seen from this content release is much larger than what we have been accustomed to as it seems that competitors have continued to make every developer set the bar higher to attract players and also retain them past the original releases.
The Multiplayer game mode has added a number of items for both players with or without the Black Ops Pass. They have added a new Specialist to play as called Zero which can disrupt enemy streaks and equipment. They have also added a number of new weapons that can be used in game via the Black Market which has also been updated. These additions are rewards from achieving progress from the updated tier system in the Black Market. They have streamlined the process in order to be more clear and rewarding for players seeking to obtain the items via gameplay. For those players with the Black Ops Pass, two new multiplayer maps have been released, Elevation and Madagascar.
In addition to the multiplayer maps, those with the Black Ops Pass also have the ability to play an all new Zombies experience called Dead of the Night featuring some well known actors. They have also made a number of updates to the Zombies experience. For example, daily challenges have been added called Daily Callings. They have also added a website for players to share achievements from their gameplays. This is interesting as it has long been requested and now will lead to types of leaderboards among the community.
Lastly, changes have also been made to the Blackout game mode. The most immediate change is a noticeable different to the map as it looks more seasoned towards autumn and winter as the period suggests. While minor changes around the map have also occurred, they added a new section that it a replica of the popular Black Ops 2 map, Hijacked. Weapons similar to those added to multiplayer will also find their way into Blackout. Lastly, the developers have updated the armor system in the game mode. You will now be able to repair armor by finding armor parts around the map.
This seems to be one of the largest DLCs that I have seen from Call of Duty in the many years I have been playing. It seems that the demand for continued streams of content to retain players within their game is the objective. I believe they are close to achieving it as I have seen more streams and players active than in the previous Call of Duty games. This makes me excited as it has been a while since the Call of Duty community has been so engaged in their game.
Thanks!
