Pokemon Go: Community Day Event This Saturday

Niantic has recently released more details about the upcoming Pokemon Go Community Day Event featuring the Generation two water-type starter Totodile. As a reminder, it will be this Saturday, January 12. As has come to be expected from these Community Day Events, the Pokemon will spawn more often over a three hour window which differs according to the region playing in. During these three hours, lure modules will last for the entire event instead of the half hour it usually lasts. One of the most exciting aspects of the events is that the shiny form of the Pokemon will be available to catch for the first time in game.

In addition to these features, evolving the Pokemon to its last form called Feraligatr will provide you with an exclusive water-type move called Hydro Cannon. These evolvements can be done during the event as well as up to an hour after the event. If not done in that time frame, you will not be able to acquire that move for the Pokemon, not even using the TM items. In fact, you cannot use TMs during the event for existing Feraligatrs as they will not have the move Hydro Cannon available. Lastly, the bonus for this Community Day Even will be the ability to have 4x incubator effectiveness which means that eggs can hatch much faster! I guess it will be time to hatch all my eggs!

While not the most exciting event, the reality is that the game has had so many releases over the last couple of months that these are just events to continue the routine of releasing new shinies which definitely attract hardcore players and collectors. While I have limited my gameplay recently, I will make an effort to at least spend some time catching some Pokemon as my items bag has over 800 Pokeballs ready to be used for something. While my goal during these events is to get a shiny for each evolution, I will be happy getting at least one. Enjoy catching them all!
