The Life is Strange twitter account announced this weekend that Life is Strange 2: Episode 1 is releasing on 27 September, 2018. This is just in time for DONTNOD's release of the Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit today, for free. Releasing on Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Life is Strange 2 will consist of five episodes, just like the first game. This is the third entry in the series, with original developers DONTNOD back on the project. Released in 2015, Life is Strange received mostly positive reviews, scoring 83 on metacritic.com. While the prequel, 2017's Life is Strange: Before the Storm, wasn't as well received, still with a 77 on metacritic.com, fans saw the series as the new standard for episodic adventure games, following Telltales' decline in quality at the same time.
While the trailer doesn't reveal any gameplay or story details, fans can assume that the story won't follow Max and Chloe. In an interview with IBTimes, directors Michel Koch and Raoul Barbet stated "the story of Max and Chloe is told, their character arcs are closed." With so much of the Life is Strange style built around the coming of age story, revisiting this story would be at odds with the series' identity. This new story will instead follow the events of The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit.
Revealed at Microsoft's E3 2018 conference, the Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a standalone story set in the Life is Strange universe. Releasing today on PC, Xbox One and PS4, for free, the episode follows a young boy named Chris. Struggling with the death of his mother, the young boy uses his imagination to transform the world around him. IGN is reporting that the choices players make in the Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will affect events in Life is Strange 2. However, after Walking Dead: 500 Days offered little more than a few cameos in Walking Dead: Season 2, the impact of the choices may vary in significance. DONTNOD will reveal more information this August, so stay tuned to Gamers Classified.
Another game I'll probably won't get until all episodes come out... Glad they're going away from Max/Chloe arcs though... I like to imagine what happened to "them" after each ending that having a game following one. (OR the developers can surprise us with a brilliant way to make both endings canon.)
WOw they have a free gam-- FREE?!! havetodownloaditrightnow!!!
