Rumour: New Super Mario Bros. U May Be Coming To The Switch

in gaming •  6 years ago

According to a recent rumour, New Super Mario Bros. U may be making its way onto the Nintendo Switch. Bring all the Wii U games onto the Nintendo Switch!

Liam Robertson, a writer for ComicBook, published a piece discussing information he had received from sources close to Nintendo of Europe, as well as other sources linked with Nintendo. According to these sources, the Nintendo Switch port for New Super Mario Bros. U will include the New Super Luigi U add-on, alongside some bonus content exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Though, the sources Robertson contacted were very secretive about what the potential additional content may be. Furthermore, the sources also indicated that the title may be named, 'New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe', but they did not specifically state that this would be the official title.

The sources didn't provide an exact release date for the port of New Super Mario Bros. U, but they indicated to Robertson that it could potentially be released this year. Liam Robertson is no stranger to Nintendo insider information and has had a good track record when it comes to stories such as this. Though, with any rumour, it must be taken with a grain of salt until Nintendo officially announces this title. Considering Nintendo has already ported several titles from the Wii U over to the Nintendo Switch, such as Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker, a port of New Super Mario Bros. U would be consistent with the companies release history.

Initially released on the Wii U in 2012, New Super Mario Bros. U was the fourth entry in the New Super Mario Bros. sub-series of titles. The title received very positive review from critics and was the third best-selling title on the Wii U. In 2013, Nintendo released New Super Luigi U DLC, which was part of Nintendo's 'The Year Of Luigi' marketing strategy. Though not as well received as the stand-alone title, it was still considered a solid entry in the Mario franchise. Also, who doesn't love Luigi? People who are dead inside, that's who.

for some reason mario never gets old. maybe it's because it's my very first game i fell in love with as a kid.. 😌

Yeah, I wonder if the creators of Mario ever thought the game would have had such a huge impact on people and the gaming world.

I went from the Wii to the Switch so i would enjoy playing the game as I didn’t experience it the first time.

That's a dedicated Mario fan :)
