I was playing this awesome and addictive game called The Wall. It is on Steam for just $15. It is a FPS with building and a HEAVY emphasis on teamwork. It has a low-poly, bright, fun and simplistic visual style.
I found the gameplay to be addictive due to it's simplicity but also astoundingly diverse, with every game being different. Despite this, there are strategies and metastasis that emerge for each map and you will come up with your own play-style and niche tactics.
This game is easy to pick up and hard to put down with you always wanting to play just one more game (they last about 30 minutes on Generator Defense though). There is a wide variety of maps and perks (more on that later) which will make you want to keep playing. The maps are varied ranging from alpine forests to barren deserts to an abandoned mall? The difference of each map is one of the main causes for that fresh and unpredictable gameplay.
The game is based upon resource collection. There are three resources: Wood, Crystal and Energy. Wood comes from trees and driftwood, crystal from giant nodes or smaller subterranean nodes and energy from the team's generator. You but down resource gatherers and upgrade them using more resources. The guns and explosives cost resources and you need to upgrade your generator (yet again costs resources) in order to buy better guns. The resources are also used to build bases and upgrade them using the game's modular building system.
The modular building system is simplistic but also diverse enough to allow the construction of a large main base to protect the generator, FoBs, sniper towers etc. Each building component has 3 levels: Wood (costs wood) Stone (costs crystal) and metal (costs even more crystal) wood being the weakest and susceptible to burning and metal being the strongest and most resilient of the building levels.
The main progression system in the game is one where you spend power cells on upgrades to your guns. You can also use them to buy loot boxes that drop perks. These perks can be combined and upgraded which give you better perks but cost more of some limited points to equip at the start of a match.
It is still in early access so there are some bugs and glitches, but the main problem with the game is the lack of players. This is a relatively unknown game, and that is an issue. Popular Rust youtuber BlooPrint plays the game (I have seen him in the Discord server) but he is yet to make a video on it. There isn't enough people to auto matchmake a full game so people make custom lobbies and others join from the Discord server. The game has a VoIP system but it is unused as most people rely on the Discord for matches and so they may as well rely on it for comms aswell. This game could really benefit from more players, but the lack of an Additional campaign means that the only spread is by word of mouth. Which is just not good enough. I hope you play this game and have as much fun as fun as everyone else who plays it.
