Aion: A New Dawn Is A New Experience Entirely?

Hey everyone, and welcome to the highly anticipated Aion 6.0 update, which is now available in Europe and promises to change the face of this MMORPG.

So, let’s get the ball rolling. Many of you already know that one of the perks of being a content creator is the number of extras that we occasionally get from the developers – like a ton of in-game money. That’s right, we’re rich! All for research purposes, obviously.

But we got a lot more! For example, a fancy sports car with wings! We go riding on a huge chicken or a cute rabbit, we purchased the latest spaceship model available with all the extras, but sadly we didn’t get a pink unicorn – so jealous! But we have a nice, cozy house that we’re yet to decorate, we’re too busy saving the world to go shopping, no rest for the wicked and all that. Looking at some of the houses available in the world of Atreia, we can’t help but wonder just how awesome it is to have one of those.

Many years have passed since its original release and Aion still features one of the best character creation systems ever designed for an MMORPG. With plenty of sliders and color choices, you can easily create a beautiful avatar or the most horrendous creature to grace the world of Atreia. No matter what, the options are there at your disposal.

One of the highlights of A New Dawn is the Transformations system. To get the transformation scrolls you must go to the new Gold Sand Shop and purchase them, crossing your fingers to get a good transformation. You can turn into a kickass polar bear of doom, a decaying skeleton, a rat-thingy what’s-it’s-name or a ravaging cute chihuahua, among many other options. However, if you don’t want to literally morph into a penguin or any other of the available transformations, there is the option for a transparent transformation, which means that you’ll inherit the abilities of the scroll while keeping your cool, respectful, daunting look. I mean, fighting a huge dragon while in the shape of a polar bear looks odd, but seeing everyone interacting with it during the cutscenes can be unintentionally hilarious.

The entire Aion gameplay was revamped for this 6.0 update, to make leveling up a faster deal and overall a smoother experience. Some regions and instances were removed, and the developers were serious when they said that the higher levels can be reached in a matter of hours. Sure, you must devote quite a few hours into Aion after level 75 – that’s when things get serious – but judging by our calculations, you’ll be up there in about a dozen hours, and then it’s a short but more serious step to the current level 80 cap.

When we reached the higher levels, that is when we realized we shouldn’t be so full of ourselves. After all, we had dozens of trinkets that we could have used to boost our character, but instead we tried to level up as fast as we could – we’re not even sure if this was a mistake or not. Suddenly, we get into the PvP side of things and it’s obvious that everyone and their moms were better prepared for battle than we were. We were killed in a matter of seconds, making us look like an insignificant speck in the middle of an impressive, no holds barred celestial war.

We learned a valuable lesson. While the leveling in A New Dawn is definitely streamlined, you need to improve your character along the way or be ready to do so later on. Grouping, faction battles and all of that requires some knowledge and a strong hero with chained skills, boosted equipment and the all-important stigma stones. It’s up to you to decide how you will face this challenge.

Later in the game you will have to group up with other players, as going solo won’t cut it anymore in the serious bits. The brutal open world PvP scenarios will be vital for your progress, so make sure that you find a few friends before venturing into the more dangerous regions.

Speaking of which, there is a new shared-map region called Lakrum where important things are happening. Your faction will be battling to take the fortress in the North and to get some valuable equipment from the nine artefact garrisons.

Aion is known as that MMORPG where you can fly, so we should talk about that for a bit. When you reach level 10, your character earns its wings. However, you can’t fly in some zones, but you can glide anywhere, making this an important travel feature – you can cross chasms or descend from places that would otherwise require a long walk. Flight time is initially restricted to 60 seconds but can be boosted through armor and accessories. Flying is definitely cool and becomes even cooler when you see those majestic creatures crossing the skies – we tried and failed to reach them, but the scene is still pretty imposing. Just make sure you don’t forget about the flight time, or you may end up falling to your death.

In terms of graphics, the higher-level regions improve on the visuals from the starting areas. Aion still looks good and some of the huge bosses will remind you why this game was acclaimed for its accomplished art style.

We wanted to keep this overview of the 6.0 update somewhat casual, so we won’t get into details such as the skill revamp or the cube system, we’ll leave that to the Aion experts. As it turns out, Aion feels like an MMORPG that is here to stay, and now with a heavier focus on the endgame. Don’t let the quick leveling fool you, this is a game with tons of depth and systems that will consume months of your time, so you’ll have a lot to see and do here. Just make sure that you take the time to care for your character and learn about every single object in your inventory, so you can make the best of it before going into the serious battles.

This is our overview on Aion’s 6.0 update, A New Dawn. We hope you enjoyed the video.

too good, I had stopped playing it but I will start again I leave level 66, if I remember it badly, I liked your posd, I will follow you, keep riding postd well

You should be a small step from the real deal, but get ready for some intense PvP stuff :)

Thanks for your review! Is this game very immersive? I mean can you lose track of time and keep playing well into the night?

Thank you! Yes, it is very immersive (except for the cars and spaceships as mounts, than can break the immersion a bit but I don't mind it).

Yes, this game can suck hours away, and when you reach the higher levels (75-80) it becomes a task only for the most persistent. It's not a new game, but the update makes leveling a lot smoother and the endgame is only for the most dedicated.

Hey @gaminstation thank you for such detailed review of Aion 6,0. I love the video that gives you an idea, how everything looks in that game, the quality of characters are amazing, as a player I can imagine that it takes you in adventure and it is not like you just watching a movie, but you are an active part of it. I like an idea that in higher level you can create a team and play with others online too. I know many of young people and actually already many adults are also fans of such games, may be because we are all dreamer, looking for adventure, want to safe world, to find a treasure and how it was in past "to safe a princess" :)

Really enjoyed your post,

Thank you, that is wonderful! Have a great day!

The graphics is do amazing and the level 6 update seems like a fire crazy cracker I mean I have not even heard of this game before it seems like it's a mythical game with features like thunderbolt or lightening with weapons that looks like staves. You said it's impossible to fly until you reach level 10 and even you're still restricted to some zone? What xo you need to do to fly without limits or barrier anywhere you want?

You can't fly in some zones, there is no way around that. However, you can glide, which will save you some travel time in some places.

Aion still looks good, but it's not the greatest game graphically, as it was released in 2012. However, it's not without its merits nowadays.

Thank you guys, you're doing a great job!

So fascinating!
I love it!

Its free, but you buy stuffs to win battles right?
What level have you reached @gamingstation?
How much money have you already spent?

I reached level 77, when I had to stop playing as I have a million things to do :)

I didn't spend any money, but I got quite a few bonuses from the devs - mounts, costumes, in-game money - that helped me get some cool stuff. I've heard other players saying that you need to spend money at endgame to remain relevant, but I guess that's something about most MMORPGs anyway.

How many years are you doing gaming online?
I'm just curious because I heard a person from our country who is given enough amount of money by a foreigner just by playing game online. Maybe that person was a genius or skilled or had more experienced on that game that most of the time wins every game.

I've been around MMOs for a decade or so, but don't play as extensively as I would like to.

Yes, I know that cases like that happen - some players get really addicted to an MMORPG and want to be on top of the game, even if they have to buy stronger accounts from other players or pay someone more skilled to level up their character. I don't like that approach, but hey, to each his own :)

Yeah, you're right.
But money is now part of everyday's life.
Some people use money for popularity and honor.
They're buying pride and honor, and even power!

By the way, what's your first name?

Yeah, money buys power and fame, no doubt about that.

I go by the alias Alexkayl.

Oh nice to meet you Alexkayl!

How many different games online have you played?
Just an estimate, roughly about thousands already?

And your latest AION or there's a new one now?

Same! :)

Quite a few, can't really count. And if we add the offline games, then it really is a lot!

Right now I'm too busy with work, so I don't have a game to really focus. Recently I've played Soulworker, Kritika, Granado Espada and a few more.

Thank you!

I'm not a gamer but looks like I'm gonna be one soon :) So many people are posting about games and they are so enthusiastic! The only game I play is about geography for learning purposes.
This game however looks great. I might try it out, so thanks for the presentation! :) And good luck, of course :)

You should play some games :D There is something for everyone, either to relax, to enjoy a nice story or to let some steam go. It depends on your mood.

Thank you for the support, good luck to you as well :)

Thank you! The more I read about gaming, the more I'm convinced I should :)

Hey there, I'm not playing Aion for now anymore as I leveled that character on a public test server and now they deleted all the progress. But it's really easy to go up to the higher levels, so don't worry about it :)

thanks friend for telling me if it looks good the game I want to be level 80 @gamingstation

It's not that hard, but things become more intense from level 75 onward, that is where you need to be more careful :)

Nice to know, thanks!

How frequent are the updates in this game? I'm one of those old men who played Tibia with a lot of passion; I even had access to the test servers to evaluate the upcoming updates thanks to my affiliation to a Tibia forum in Spanish. It was great at the beginning, but I felt that the game changed too much with each update (they made two per year), and I ended up getting disenchanted with the game.
I understand that MMORPGs must stay active and constantly offer variants to players, but I firmly believe that they can not betray their essence as I think Tibia did a long time ago.

I don't think the Aion updates are too frequent. I'm guessing a couple of major updates per year, and this one also suffered from radical updates before. Luckily, this 6.0 seems like a big step in the right direction.

MMORPGs tend to change a lot. Sometimes it's for the best, other times only to cater for a minority that doesn't know better and end up ruining the game.
