Have you ever played through a game and came across that one song where you couldn't help but just sit there in both awe and silence? Was there ever that one soundtrack you happened to stumble across on YouTube that the second you heard brought a wave of emotions and nostalgic memories? I know I most certainly have. Music in games is often an over-looked category by some, but a part of a game that if done right can better immerse players and put a smile across anyone's face. I love listening to a game's soundtracks, and I can't help but appreciate a good one, so I decided to put this list together of my personal top five favorite soundtracks from some of my favorite videogames.

Before we get started, a short introduction;

I'm ggteixeira, an average guy who enjoys playing video games on his spare time, reading quality posts on Steemit, then trying to give back by making some of my own. Some of the games I enjoy playing include Arma, League, Overwatch, and a ton of multiplayer survival games. If you ever want to play with me, don't feel shy to just leave a reply below!

5. Fallout 4 - Main Theme

If you haven't heard this one yet, then you're really missing out. Fallout 4 is a post-apocalyptic open-world game, with some amazing music to accompany it while you play. Most of the time you'll be listening to 50's music, but the game's main theme and introduction soundtrack will leave you stunned in awe, as a great start to get any player hyped to explore Fallout 4's vast and unique world.

4. Medieval II: Total War - Theme OST

Medieval II, arguably one of the best entries into the unrivalled total war strategy game series. The second you listen to this song when starting up the game you automatically get that exciting chill running through your spine. The war drums beating in melody, strings playing away in the background, and voices singing away 'hallelujah' really set the foundations for this game's gruesome depiction of medieval war.

3. Runescape - Newbie Melody

Everyone knew this was coming. A big portion of gamers played old-school Runescape while growing up, one of the greatest MMO RPGs of it's time and all time. Because of this, the moment you listen to this song, it's a guaranteed blast of nostalgia as I promise that old memories will leave you smiling for the rest of the day.

2. Age of Empires II - Main theme

This one always leaves me laughing. Age of Empires II, the greatest strategy game of it's time always had great music to accompany it while you played and it's introduction soundtrack for me was always the hook. Reminding me of all the battles I had lost, relics I stole, and laughs I got from playing this game, this soundtrack is truly like the game it comes from, a great one.

1. Halo 3- Main theme

Halo 3 on the Xbox 360, the best console game I have ever played growing up as a kid. The legendary custom games, constantly replayed campaign, and competitive multiplayer had me, my cousins, and my friends spending countless hours playing it all. I grew up with this game and it helped me get through a lot of rough times. For it's time, it was just such a great game and in my opinion the best in the Halo series. And just like the game, Halo 3's main theme didn't hold back from any of the action, just listen;

Agreed Halo is up there. I had the CD you mentioned above. A classic.

More recently, Rocket League has one of the best soundtracks though. I'm partial to EDM!
