What can we expect from Red Dead Redemption 2?
Rockstar Games has been supplying the ever-thirsty gaming community with jaw dropping content for years, and we are soon to receive its latest installment to our lives. Said to release in 2018, this leaves us with little time on our hands to finish our third or fourth playthrough of the current game. It's okay though, wrap it up, enjoy your last few moments with Lester, and get prepare yourself for another adventure
The original Red Dead Redemption was chock full of fun features. Traveling the West fighting gangs on horseback provided endless hours of entertainment and sleepless nights. Not to mention the Western duels and bounty hunting that we had never seen before. In a lot of ways Red Dead was completely new to us, but with the new release being a direct sequel is there really that much that it can offer?
A Good Singleplayer
The previous game released by Rockstar, GTA V, had a good singleplayer at best. They definitely hit some nails on the head but singleplayer soon became the neglected step-child of Rockstar when the realized the lucrative nature of the relation between micro transactions and multiplayer. The sale of "Shark Cards" which deposit a certain amount of Online currency skyrocketed when everyone craved to have a nicer car than their online friends. DLC were released for online only which left the strictly singeplayer fans in the past.
We can only hope that this does not happen again, and that Rockstar can at the very least give this new campaign some replayability. The setting in the Read Dead Redemption series has an enormous potential for singleplayer content that simply cannot be put into a competitive multiplayer world.
We all remember this guy right? Content like this is what makes a game rememberable for us and there are so many opportunities for Rockstar to make this new game one we'll never forget. You would have never expected to meet f*cking in a rootin' tootin' cowboy game and they pulled it off anyway. Here's to hoping Rockstar remembers that people aren't just in it for the multiplayer.
Multiplayer
It's pretty obvious that Rockstar has gotten the hang of multiplayer through Gta V. We can only hope that they can pull it off just as well in a setting like this. In the modern day setting there are plenty of opportunities to keep the player entertained be it racing, drug running, theft, or a number of other criminal activities. Although, I wouldn't mind revamping the old and being able to tie some mates up and leave 'em on the train tracks..
Multiple Characters (?)
I don't know quite what to say about this one. I for one quite enjoyed the three characters in Gta V and felt that they added a good diversity to the game, but I know some people who are lobbying for a single protagonist. Without spoiling the ending for Red Dead Redemption (If you haven't played it yet what are you waiting for!?) there aren't many characters of importance to fill the place of another protagonist. It looks like we will have to wait and see for this one.
Your thoughts?
I'd love to get some input from you all. Do you think Rockstar is going to be able to knock this one out of the park or do you think they're going pull another Gta Online?
Thanks for taking the time to read,
