IBT Survival Island Game - Progress Report Twenty One

in gaming •  6 years ago

Welcome to this weeks update on IBT survival Island.

It's been an interesting week as we perfect moving animals around the island. One major hurdle overcome another massive hurdle in the way. In particular you learn things by unlocking the knowledge. For instance you might find a book in a secret stash left by some long gone stranded survivalist. Once you read the book it should unlock the knowledge and allow you to build new survival things - this code works fine.

Problem is the skills tree isn't updating properly to show it's been learned - even though it shows that it's ready and you can put the skills to use. It's a painful bug! but we are determined.

Outside of this we keep working with animals, some of these guys we are leveraging some stuff to cut some corners for testing - but the important thing is we get the coding down pat.

Above is some piggies that we are using in the game to get the movement and action code down pat.

Performance and multiple animal running test will continue for a number of weeks now. The Programming is becoming more complex and FPS tests must be run to be sure it doesn't become too hard to run on home PC's.

This multiple test below checks  animal animation, travel direction and collision with terrain. (Pig,  ferral fox and crow test. Pig 1 is eating and alive. Pig2 is well, dead.  Crow 1 and 2 have been startled and flying from camera. Ferral Fox  smells pig, realises human at camp and runs his ass off) Feral fox  animation will also be modified for native australian dingo for instance.

The above is testing for stability and performance and the beginning of quest implementations

...And that's it for this weeks update - Steemon guys!

That's some nice bits of progress you have been working on and getting more of the code down pat will help in the long run. Hopefully you fix the bugs and problems you are having and progress keeps moving forward and more gets completed.
