Why are Handheld Consoles seen as Socially Inadequate?

in gaming •  7 years ago

Interesting read! The smartphone user in public indeed has the benefit of the doubt using their device for reading/business/communication. The handheld user does not have this excuse, as per the device is dedicated for gaming.

Another thing to keep in mind regarding the kind of games is that handheld games usually have a higher price tag and therefore require a more committed user (who is also willing to carry a phone AND a handheld).

I think in general the stigma relates to gaming as a not universally accepted hobby versus socially acceptable gaming on the phone while "on the train".

I can see your point of view, but still, I find it mind boggling that there is a stigma against video games. It is a passion that many people from different age groups have, but the general consensus is still the hyperbolic assumption that video games are only for children.
