When I first got in touch with strategy games I was quite disappointed, Dune was all fun and stuff till sand worms started to mess up with your base, I simply passed that game.
But when I first got my hand on Red Alert everything changed, and I played that game over and over again, hours and days and man it was good. Not C&C Generals good or Starcraft Broodwar - but it was my firs RTS experience.
When you have tons of time you make 100 soldiers, 200 dogs, you try to do everything and it feels good.
Yes it was limited, once we mined all the ore on the map there was nothing to do, graphics were pixels, water was just blue and men where 5 colored pixels, would I play today this game ... nope ... I would play C&C Generals Zero hour everyday, it is Red Alert at it's best but this thing started all the craziness, it is the grandpa of RTS.
