Curse of the Vampire Coast DLC Review

Creative Assembly and their great strategy game Total War: Warhammer 2 never ceases to amaze me with the new stuff they keep on producing on regular basis. Vampire Coast DLC is insanely good, probably the best DLC of the whole series, I immensely enjoyed Norsca and Tomb Kings, but this faction offers completely different way to play the game, and the faction is over the top as they can get. The best way to describe this race is just to imagine Undead pirates from Pirates of the Carribean and you will essentially end up with Vampire Coast.

Vampire Coast campaign objective is to slay the ancient city sized sea monster called Amanar, because the beast is so huge Vampire Coast needs to find an enchanted weapon to kill it and raise it from the dead to do their bidding. This is not an easy objective because you need to raise your infamy levels and beat other captains before you can go for the big one. You gain infamy by raiding, pillaging, killing, finding treasures scattered all over the map and building your special faction buildings called Pirate Coves. You can build Pirate Coves by pillaging the settlements, they can passively provide you income without the need to defend them.

Every one of 4 new legendary lords will have their flagship where you can build units similarly like Chaos and Beastman. You can also upgrade your ship making it a true floating fortress, in the late game you will truly become a sea ruler with a whole fleet of undead ships and monstrous creatures from the deep. This makes this faction so fun to play, and so rewarding once you get some late game awesome units like Queen Bess or Necrofex Colossus. Giant crab Rotting Promethean that uses ship hulls as protection is definitely fun to watch in action. Vampire Coast can also use a lot of gunpowder units capable of unleashing hell on your enemies.

If you enjoy Total War: Warhammer 2 this DLC is a must have, there are no shortage of interesting factions in this game, but with the addition of Vampire Coast this is a full package game. Score: 92/100!
