When did you stop playing Need for Speed games?

Need for Speed is one of those franchises deeply rooted into gaming culture. Last week I talked about Call of Duty franchise which released 16 games up to this point in time, that franchise is younger than Need for Speed franchise by 8 years.

Right now there are 26 Need for Speed games, but unlike Call of Duty people don't have such a negative way of looking at them. Arcade racing games with good graphics, good looking cars and fun feeling of driving can last a very long time as Need for Speed is proving constantly for more than 25 years.

Some Need for Speed games early on were great, later on some were decent, but the new ones somehow never seem to grab a larger audience. Good sales or bad sales EA keeps on producing new ones. Need for Speed it seems will never go away.

My personal favorites were Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit from 1998 and Need for Speed: Underground from 2003, I also liked Underground 2, I don't recall enjoying anything in last 10 years. I tried some new ones here and there, but those were never as fun as Hot Pursuit and Underground.

Need for Speed: Heat is coming out November 8, that is one month from now and again the game seems very generic, seen countless time before. I don't know maybe this one will be ok, who knows, all I know judging by the new Need for Speed games this one will be just another one in line until next one in 2020 hits. Some things never change, war and EA's Need for Speed.

I thrashed the first 3 way too hard, after that I stopped :)
Used to get some killer drifts though

First ones were so fresh and new, you can't have the same amount of excitement like back in the day in 2019 I guess.

NFS: Underground 1 & 2, plus Carbon were the only ones I liked. I love games allowing doing your cars up, so Forza and Gran Turismo were always favourites too.

Oh yeah, Carbon was decent but it started to show the signs of metal fatigue after so many nitros bursts from previous games :)

Underground 1and 2 were simply amazing. Carbon was a bit disappointing but Most Wanted (the first one) was - for me- the best NFS game so far. Not really sure what to think about Heat. I don't expect too much tho.

Yeah it seems very generic, we'll see.

need for speed underground 1 and 2 was the best games of the saga, then other games just low in quality like the undercover, personally i like racing games but always i'm looking for something more like funny mechanic in games like Mario kart or sonic and sega all star racing transform, even the Forza Horizon but yeah from 26 games made it we agree what we just can take 2 or 3 games like the best. Good post :)

Crash Team Racing was fun on Playstation. I used to play that a lot long time ago. Tnx.

Same as COD: When the DRM got so sophisticated, that I could not safely crack it anymore.

Yes, always online games can't be cracked. Those are great if they have free to play model, if you put a price mark just to enter eventually they will die. Latest Need for Speed games, Anthem, all EA games failed failed with those models up until free to play Apex Legends. Destiny 2 went free to play and is doing great after they realized buy to play can't work longterm.

Well ... with Modern Warfare 2, it was still possible to play on cracked servers ...
