The Playstation VR
This post is not a bashing of the playstation VR system, not at all. I think it's a great system and a great way to innovate the gaming industry which as been the same "looking at a flat screen" experience since ever. Ironically in the Playstation VR you actually are still looking at a flat screen, only difference is you are looking at two and the images they contain move with your head movement.
I have been one of the early adaptors of the PS VR receiving the systen right at launch. Of course the package did not come with the camera and ps move controllers, so I had to hurry to my local tech store to also pick these up. In the store they were giving demonstrations with the system.
Anyways hopping back on my scooter driving back home in joy I boot up the system. The first game I try was the included demo disc, it gives a great example of what you can do with it. The next thing I did was boot up the playstation store to get me some more out of this crazy piece of tech.
ARKHAM VR
As you can guess by the big picture hovering above this text one of my first full experiences was with Arkham VR. You use the move controllers as your hand, you can grab your bat-gadgets such as the hook, the iconic batarang and scanners. Throwing around batarangs around you in VR is pretty cool if I may say. Another really cool situation was when you had to pickup the batman mask and put it on your face, afterwards a mirror would come up and you could look at yourself. At that moment I really felt like batman for a moment. This game was a great experience apart from the somewhat bubbly graphics. All though I did call it a full experience earlier on I played through it in just an hour.
JOB SIMULATOR
Another interesting game I played was Job Simulator. In this game you play as an employee in different job situations you can choose from. Among these are an office, store and garage. As I was taking a break from the somewhat intensiveness you can experience from this game, I rolled a joint. Afterwards I entered back in and I must say that it is really easy to get lost in this world, because of the cartoonish graphics the environment around you actually looks really good in VR. One bad thing I did experience from this was my lack of space. I live in a small student room, this made it hard sometimes to pick things from under the tables in the game as I would bump into objects in the real word.
THE SELLING
So as you can read from above I really had some great fun with the system, but why in the earth did I sell it then as I state in my title you may ask? Well the reason behind this is, is because I personally think it is still a little to early for this system to really live up to it's potential. The PS4 Pro does boost up the experience of the PS VR a bit but it is still not powerfull enough to really let us see a crazy virtual world in which we can completely disappear.
It is also really hard to cover up all the wires and the processing unit to let your room look neat, especially if you live in a small house/room. If you don't have enough room in the first place, another obstacle would be the lack of movement you will have in the virtual world as I mentioned earlier. This can greatly disrupt your experience.
I will personally keep following the development of the PS VR and VR in general because I really think it is a great trend for the future, but for me it is not yet the time to adapt it as a gaming system.
What do you think about the PS VR, or do you want to share your experience with the PS VR? Please let know in the comments as I am really curious. Let's start the discussion guys!
Untill next time everyone.
About me: I'm glad to have become part of this community in which I see a great future! A little bit about me: I am a masters grad student focused on business information systems. In my free time I research a lot of financial and IT related subjects. Some hobbies of mine: gaming, sports, cryptocurrency investing. If you have any tips/additions or anything else to the post please let me know.
Some great points there about the need for more room. Reminds me of the early days of Xbox Kinect, Wii motion controls and Playstation Move. People bought that stuff without researching if it was a good fit for their living situation (and companies piled on like it was the next coming).
I personally won't bother with VR for a while, the tech is still way too new, even though companies have been playing with it since the Super Nintendo era, and possibly prior. There is just so much more computing power required for the content delivered via VR to be interesting enough for mainstream adoption. I think people pick up something like this and expect the same level of quality as the regular games. That is not going to happen because devs have not had that much time to play with VR, hammer out bugs, etc.
Great article by the way.

I share your viewpoint exactly, sadly I was one of those people that expected the same level quality as regular games ( wel sort of). Had a great experience with it, excited for the future of it! Thanks for your opinion ;).

Interesting view - and I do agree with it for the most part. It's still to early for VR to go mainstream.
Great post ! Would you mind if I included it in todays "best of gaming"?
